OPLOT; inaccuracies, discussion, reports

war thunder uses its own formula for penetration, which is always lower than real life. I don’t want to hear “fake table” from a guy who used a war thunder value for 3bm42 when talking about real life

Why was the wrong dynamic protection provided on the sides on your side?)

his UFP values for the T-84 are also straight up wrong, they never removed an entire textolite/rubber layer, and there is zero source claiming such. The KMDB website actually says “The main armour is a laminated ‘sandwich’ of armoured plate and ceramics” which infers that it is more one layer of ceramics, which would fall in line with the T-80UD

It provides, but not all. There is 1 block 34P and 2 blocks 19A, as I have already shown above, blocks 19A do not work against kinetics

34P provides kinetic protection

And some promo-stuff from my collection

Cool, cool. So, what does it say?

Only necessary part is in the corner of 3rd photo. It tell about ability to shoot “long” APFSDS-T such as 3БМ42U1.

1st photo contains short info about КБА-3.

The Oplot uses Duplet, and up to half of the tank’s side as well. This is schematically shown on the website of the developer of this dynamic protection. And in this configuration it was purchased by Thailand. So why specify dynamic protection designed for lightly armored vehicles?

he’s just being disingenuous, not to mention duplet looks entirely different from nizh LM, and the T-84 has never mounted nizh LM on the sides of the T-84, only duplet or none at all

and it’s even shown for duplet

I know that) On the stream, the chief director Bullanikov himself said that up to half of the board will be protected

I explained that on the sides of the Oplot only 1 layer out of 3 provides protection from kinetics. Some people think that all 3 layers of ERA on board are HKChPWSH-34P and they all provide protection from kinetics

what’s your source for that? Are you really going to claim a multilayer ERA is only designed to work as single layer ERA? Duplet was purposefully designed to stop kinetic, if they wanted to stop HEAT or tandem they would not have mounted 3 layers, and they wouldn’t need too against regular HEAT, nizh is already good at that

this

both 19A and 34 are rated to degrade APFSDS, the fact you assumed that only 34 can is wild

Nizh-LM consist of 19A and dont provide kinetic protection

nizh LM and KhSChKV-19a are not the same

there are many conditions that need to be met for ERA to work as it should. Same for Kontakt-5, all we know that K-5 can counter APFSDS, but most of us didn’t knew, that % of success depends on the angle. Same for Nozh/Duplet. It’s useless so far you are shooting at 90 degree towards ERA. 3 layers of ERA and middle layers needed to keep ERA effective in most of the possible angels, not only 30 degrees.

Anyway all this crap won’t work in WT as it does IRL.

That’ll still at least counts as a secondary source. So while It wouldn’t do much on its own, it is still helpful.

So now I’ve got:

Semi-Primary source article from KMDB about the non-BM welded turret T-84:
