There is a ticket system within the discord where i assume you can ask for clarification/appeal punishments that happen on the discord. It’s at the top of the channel list under the “Support” category.
It is thoroughly out of step with virtually every other game forum however…
You might also say it whittles it down to an echo chamber - since those who no longer play the game can no longer express why they might not do so.
A potential player who might be interested in the game but has a few questions is bang out of luck. Sorry - we don’t let you speak unless you jump through a few hoops first!
Anything that makes it harder for people to use a forum for it’s intended purpose ‘a FORUM’ is counter-productive. After all, the dictionary definition of Forum is ‘public discussion’.
Just look at leaving any comments on any news item. All pre-moderated and it is down to the whims of the mods (which can vary a GREAT deal) whether a valid comment is just straight up binned.
Maybe one of the reasons the Discord Idea backfired so spectacularly is that Gaijin have thought they could apply the same degree to control of a far less controllable platform such as Discord. Which they can’t. It really doesn’t work like that.
Especially not if some clever bright spark decides to allow it to become a free-for-all by not enabling half the content controls…

It should as far as i know, sometimes the game to forum info transfer is a little behind on updating though. In those cases playing one more match usually solves it.

They need to step their game up:
- More chats for tec trees and nations
- the ability to name VCs to make squadding up easier (see the unofficial WT discord)
- possibly a subsection for datamines from Gszabi
- maybe even an extension of the forums
This is THE war thunder discord and as you said, it is lackluster

if they aren’t a fan of that, then they should stop updating the game… anybody who wants to look for the files will find them. Plus I think that a more informed playerbase is a better playerbase. No reason to hide changes behind mid update recaps

One of the problems is that channels have a 1 minute cooldown which makes an actual conversation impossible since in that time there’s like a hundred messages, but that’s also related to the other problem which is that the general chat of such a massive community is inevitably spammed by ten gazillion people. So the chats are barely useable.
The second issue is that this absurd amount of spam makes it totally impossible for mods to keep up, so it’s already turned into a dumpster fire by now.
And the third issue is that, indeed, the server is too barebones to do anything more than spam shittalk.
Hopefully they figure out solutions to adress these issues, but right now I don’t see anything they could do to really fix it. The good thing is, it lets us see how great this forum is in its design because this place is actually useable

yeah putting gifs behind a level just ensures people spam junk to get to that point and since the cooldown is per channel people just cycle through channels spamming to reach level 5 and then its gifs gifs gifs.
The cooldown also means you can’t have a discussion but its also understandable because you don’t want people spamming to build up levels but for a server that large and chat moving its less than ideal for actual conversations
Honestly I’d just prefer gifs were killed entirely, they are never related to the topics at hand, they bury conversations, they are used to post edgy stuff and skirt around filters.
Or make a quarantine channel to lock gifs in there away from actual discussion channels.
My other suggestion would be more subdivision, rather than having a arcade, realistic and simulator channel have them as categories then have air, ground and naval channels in them, the generalized channels do not mesh with a server this large, things need to be split up much more so someone asking something about naval doesn’t get buried by a converstion about air thats disrupted by talking about tanks.

I think the eyes need to be a bit bigger
Honestly this sums up pretty well why the general chat has no way to be useable in any good way.
No matter what they do we will either have too much stam for a proper convo or too much cooldown and restrictions for a proper convo
Mods should setup automod with all kinds of slurs and inappropriate links blacklisted.
