They don’t need to be common, its in a good spot as it is. If anything the nuke carriers themselves need to be reworked as some other people have already suggested.
I know 2500SP isn’t easy to get, I have dropped a total of 14 nukes and a couple of a minute to midnight medals on my name, I ain’t the greatest player around but I can drop a nuke every here and there if I feel like it and the game is going my way but even so I disagree with lowering its value.
I would however agree that once a nuke plane spawns the tickets freeze so the game doesn’t instantly end (yes, no more a minute to midnight, RIP) so at least that way whoever is calling in for a nuke gets a chance to have a say in the matter, unless it gets intercepted which is totally fine either way.
I almost only see nukes in the extremely poorly balanced BR 8.0 to 9.0, where individual tanks are absolutely OP.
I’m a fairly average player and have only been able to launch a nuke twice with 10.7 and higher.
Once with the Leo 2A4 (successful) and once with the Leo 2A7 (arrived too late).
In the almost 100 games with the T55 AM -1 alone, I have launched a successful nuke and had the opportunity to do so 5 times towards the end of the game.
The SP would then have to be adapted to the BR.
In 12.7 you never see nukes. Because they are either not reached, because the tank survival time is simply too short, or because it’s not worth launching them, because the ancient jets are then blown out of the sky by the EF 2000.
I see the mechanics as an accessory that almost always ends an already decided match a little faster. It can stay that way, but otherwise it is not particularly significant.
There is currently one nuke runner on youtube lol he was using the BMD-4 and his fastest was 1 minute. Yes you heard that right, he reached the nuke requiment 1 minute into the game
At lower tier, sp cost should be increased due to seal clubbing and at the top tier, we need better nuclear carriers(F15 preferable), so i don’t have to risk getting shot down on the runway .
Imho the biggest issue with nukes isn’t getting them, it’s dropping them. Either upgrading nuke carriers, especially above the Jaguar/SU-7 or slowing the match timer upon nuke spawn would be all that’s needed. 2500 SP might actually even be too “easy” with a good lineup and a down tier(such as some of the 8.7 lineups,) so maybe even increasing nuke SP on down tier/decreasing it on up tier by -250 to +500
Nukes should not be cheaper to get, if anything they should be more expensive and under no circumstance should there ever be anything like an instant win button.
Sure, higher tiers should use newer planes as nuke carriers, but only to a certain degree until the new SPAA/SAM systems arrive as it is way too easy to counter SPAAs/SAMs by just flying low and only exposing yourself in the last moment.
Having something with top tier fighter flight performance as the nuke carrier would rob the enemy team of the opportunity to spawn fighters to try and intercept the nuke.
Hard pass. Getting a nuke invalidates the contribution of every other player. it should be extremely hard to get. It doesn’t improve gameplay, it just rewards a single player for hard carrying a game.
I mean… to get out played that much by a player that can get 2500 SP to drop a nuke is a huge achievement, one which is currently not celebrated enough in War Thunder: hence my suggestion to drop it to 2000 SP
2000 spawn points isn’t carrying a team. Thats 7-2 with a few assists in there. 2500 spawn points is closer to 10-2. Very significant difference. One is achievable on a pretty regular interval. The other is… well our current level.
