This isn’t in the context of Air to Air combat. This is in the context of nuclear delivery. You know how difficult it is to intercept MiG 23’s suicide rushing your base? Give that plane more & better countermeasures, make it faster, give it more range, give it advance warning of you firing a missile, and give it a larger nuke that allows it to 1 tap all forward airfields. Does that sound particularly fun to play against?
Had some good fights with enemy f4s on my mig23mld. We were tied but at some point I began winning and dude just got annoyed that I always come to exact route he passes.
Pd phantoms are good but mig23mld isnt much worse. Unless 15iq teammates surround enemy and mess your acm up

Voluntarily played this mode till 2 am because mig23mld is actually fun compared to f4e. Lets me actually play as patrol aircraft and not as “oh crap radar isnt working”.
The F-4E with AIM-9Ls is roughly equal to the MiG-23MLD
The US players also get to bring the F-4J and F-4S, which are better than the MiG-23MLD in the hands of your average player
The MiG-23 and F-4 are contemporaries as well

Even the F111F its better at fighting planes than the F4E btw,since instead of 2 Aim9Ls you got 6

The Aim9Ls on the F4E dont make the equallity for having garbage radar
R-60Ms are worse than AIM-9Ls usually, R-24Ts are equally easy to flare
The F-4 also carries more missiles over-all, has more countermeasures and is easier to play for the average player
