Oh good point about mission length. I often forget about that. So yeah, it would still directly benefit the furball players to keep the mission going instead of promoting rapid escalation levels.
I did around 11000 score points with usa with a mix of f4e nuking sam sites, and farming air kills with the f4j which works far better than the mig23. Then spawning nuke and finishing the game is trivial.
If I just focused on air kills I probably would reach over 15k score points
Me, focus in air kill only, 18 for big nuke
Invisible missiles is a bug afaik, and not the norm. likely due to the fact the game engine is trying to handle too many objects and symbols at once. I dont think its fair to judge an AA’s effectiveness based on a rare-ish bug.
That I agree with. Things that cant fire on the move when player controlled shouldnt fire on the move when not controlled by a player. I also think its a bit annoying that they have their radar off at all times until they engage you. Its manageable since they’re always in the same spot, but its a bit weird to always give them first shot advantage imo.
I do however think that if you enter an AA’s range and decide to just stay there, being shot down should be expected, and that people saying the AA is too strong because they sat in the AA’s range and let it shoot at them til they died is pretty dumb.
If you wanna survive yeah, but ppl suicide bomb airfields all the time. I dont think you should be able to do that if the AA isnt degraded personally.
Almost everyone falls for the slight off bore aim7f spam and they fail to multipath or even point their noses up and get out of the safe altitude thinking im not targeting them
Spawning f4j on repeat and netting about 4-7kills almost everytime is crazy broken.
Im only getting killed by osas or by killing myself in headons when running out of missiles
Did you say “rare-ish” bug? are we dead serious now… nah bro, its EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. with these AAs. Every game something “rare-ish bug” happens. Is the “rare-ish” part in the room with us perhaps? Or or or maybe its the friends we made along the way!
Out of curiosity, what is your typical ping/latency in milliseconds? Also, what GPU do you have? Not blaming your setup or connection (because I have experienced this bug multiple times, have a great connection and very powerful GPU), just wondering if ping and/or GPU power has anything to do with it.

Yup, definitely not that. You have lower ping than me, and a newer GPU (I have 60ms-90ms ping, and a 3090Ti).
I mean, how much it happens to people is subjective. Invisible missile kills have only happened to me every like 3-4 games, if that, and considering the amount of AA missiles being fired at you in a single game, even dying to it once a game does still put it in the “rare” category imo. If the bug happens once per 100 missiles, its not that common. People have a habit of remembering things that go wrong better than things that go right.
<30ms and RX 7800 XT. I dont think this has anything to do with me getting locked through terrain and eating missiles that came from space, but here you go…
Nah with the right tactic you can reliably kill them with one ARM launch.
I come in at medium altitude (ideal is exactly enough alt to do a hard split S after ARM launch and not crash into the dirt) with the A-7 (as example), wait for the SA-8 to lock and launch before even readying the missile (prevents it from getting distracted by the nebo), very quickly counterfire the offending Gecko, perform a split S and run away while waiting for the HARM to impact. The running away is the critical part, if you break LoS it will engage your missile. Staying in their LoS keeps them distracted long enough to kill them. Once they’re dead, their missile is stupid and you can evade it.
If you do it properly, you’ll kill the SA-8 before it hits you and it won’t even TRY to shoot your HARM down. Just gotta make sure you stay in their LoS while the ARM is in the air, and reduce closure rate with their missile by running from it.
Have been getting reliable 3 to 4 SAM kill sorties with this tactic.
Edit: also should be noted that this 1000% only works with ARMs or fast AGMs, mavericks and GBUs are way too slow to manage it
Not true i remember good times too! Like that one time i got slammed by a missile after i didnt receive the slightest radar ping for a solid 5 minutes… Absolutely amazing!
I’m gonna have to go home and study real ARM tactics and see if they have any effect when I get home from work

Once Fuel depot is captured(by AI convoy), everything there changes side.
they were not, 2 day in gaijin buffed a stat called max target angular change from 5 degrees to 20 degrees. the osas only got a buff of 15 degrees, so its very funny everyone is saying they better than the nato stuff and have been terminators since day one.
I wonder if they also made it ignore trees. In a match right now and the last 4 missiles from an OSA that has killed me has flown through entire forests to kill me as I’m tree top level
they ignore trees because they are saclos missiles aimed by the ai, the ai is aiming at you through trees, rolands do the exact same thing.
people are only complaining about the osas because everyone is playing usa, they are identical in preformance to the roland and other nato sams, bar bugs.
