F-4J and F-4S are pretty strong in the lower bracket for sure, but if you removed them US has no legs to stand on vs MLD air-to-air and US vehicles are already weaker than their Russian counterparts (bar 2500 SP strategic bomber) for doing mission objectives.
I don’t think any of the attackers get shot at by the long range sams, but having been shot down by usa sams in russian planes constantly, I don’t believe you

Warthunder was originally a game about aerial combat in WW2. It’s been around for more than a decade now, and the scope has crept to include naval and armored combat, with vehicles ranging from pre-war tanks and aircraft to modern systems. The way players progress through tech trees somewhat negates the necessity of tutorials for complex in game systems, because they are meant to be introduced gradually to players over hundreds of hours of playtime.
The game’s monetization, however, clashes with this, as advertising primarily shows off modern vehicles. New players rightfully expect to be able to play with the vehicles in the ads, and are disappointed by the fact that they have to work for them in a game they are playing for fun. New players are thus primed for Gaijin to swoop in and offer modern premium vehicles for $70. Echoing somewhat what you’ve said, the learning curve is a learning cliff, and new players thrown into the deep end have a tendency to drown in matches and thus fail to exploit the strengths of their aircraft.
Nuclear Thunder is easily my favorite thing about the game at the moment, but it’s greatest weakness, beyond the current overtuned state of AI controlled IADS, is that it has granted new players, who have not had time to learn systems gradually, access to complex late cold war systems without providing more comprehensive teaching to make up.
The playlist belowshould serve as a bit of a primer for some of the systems you’ll have to contend with while flying late cold-war aircraft. God speed.
That’s kind of insane, now that you’ve pointed it out. Perhaps a Mig-29 with R-73’s and a pair of R-27R/T’s (no ER/ET) available to everyone on red in the top bracket would fix this.
That missile detonated like 50 meters above the bomber (timestamp 0:14). Is that even close enough to trigger the fuse of the missile and isn’t 50 meters a way too high radius of splash damage to be able to rip off the wing of a B-52?
Go to premium plane which you dont own. Go to protection analyser. Save analyse blk file. Rename in that blk file object and offender object to nt_tu_95m or nt_b_52h. Enjoy.
