Nuclear Escalation - Summer Development update from BVV_d

Ah so that’s what these changes were for, makes sense from a technical standpoint.

I don’t know how any of this works, so this kind of suggestion could simply be unideal or outright impossible, but would it potentially be possible to allocate higher performance servers capable of larger loads for Nuclear Thunder? Again this is just mainly guesswork on a possible solution from me.

That’s awesome to hear, please tell me this is an entire game thing!
The Iron Done metas in both Air RB against A2A missiles and GRB with anti munitions systems (like the Pantsir) thriving from interceptions are really hard to play against and balance. Really hoping to see this realistic implementation and I can’t wait!

As always I truly appreciate and enjoy the transparency and hope to see more of it! Can’t wait to try this mode out again! Especially can’t wait to try all these new brackets!

Not… quite

True, getting eaten by the carrier wasn’t fun.

cant-prove-it

That would be interesting. Though my thinking was more damage that likely wasnt salvagable for “heavy damage” Thinking HMS Sheffield.

Maybe Medium damage could go back to port to repair instead of just being able to repair in teh middle of no where?

the fact the J-15T still doesnt have catobar ingame is funny as fuck

REALLY appreciate the clear and concise information.

Nice!

Our plans have not changed; we hope to implement helicopters in this mode in the future.

I would have a level higher than heavy damage for that, where the thing is effectively a write off that is sitting salvage, with heavy damage incurring a very long period of repair (so we could conduct port strikes), but medium needing repairs at port would also be an option.

iirc it does, but the test flight maps use non CATOBAR carriers.

plus Nuclear Escalation used the Kuznetsov instead of something like Fujian so no CATOBAR there either.

What about Communication? Without proper comunication supressing AA will be hard. Is it possible that Bombers and Startigic Bombers could see use in Nucleat Escaltion?

RCS implementation will be a total wreck to GRB battles. I can’t imagine this being an enjoyable feature on fast and low RCS missiles like Kh-38 or AGM-88.

As always, the plans change and folk aren’t informed.

Are you going to respond to @Macron-Spokesman’s highlighting of the lack of care for minor nations? We see a heavy focus on American and Russian ordnance, but what of exocet/RBS 15? Or ESM for nations that do not use ARMs yet deploy such systems to strike radar emitters?

it in fact do not have catobar as seen by people trying to take off of the US ones

Is it realistic to have the SPAA’s search radar off until the player gets close? How does it know the player is close, it’s not logical. Does it rely on other radars in real life?

I have missed the performance part and range, looks reasonable

Nice list of changes, happy to see them. Most of the changes you’ve described are very welcome, and I’m looking forward to testing them.

However, I think there is still another major balance issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

During many matches, Red aircraft have been able to fly directly over Blue airfields with little or no resistance. I’ve seen Su-30s fly straight over our airfield, attack players, and leave again without being engaged effectively by the air defenses.

If the situation is reversed and a Blue aircraft flies over a Red airfield, it is usually destroyed almost immediately by the defending SAM systems, you cant even get that high up, before being engage. This creates a very noticeable imbalance between the two teams.

Because of this, Red players have often been able to camp around Blue airfields, shoot down aircraft that have just taken off, and leave with very little risk. That isn’t enjoyable gameplay, and it gives one side a significant advantage.

I also still believe that missile interception across the game is too reliable, both for SAM systems and air-to-air missiles. The current “Iron Dome” meta, where missiles constantly intercept other missiles, doesn’t feel realistic and reduces the effectiveness of many weapon systems.

Overall, I think the changes in this update are a big step in the right direction. However, I hope the airfield defense imbalance and the current missile interception mechanics are looked at as high-priority issues, because they have a major impact on both the balance and the enjoyment of the mode.

Hm. That is odd.

it is wild they can’t just temporarily disable that forum function for themselves lol. setting the alarm for 23 hours 59 minutes from now…

What about the silver lion spawn costs? Spawning even 3 or 5 times in a game with a top tier aircraft gets very expensive. You need to kill a lot of targets to come ahead on silver lion earnings.

Is it possible in the distant future Nuclear Escalation could become a fully combined arms mode?

So, Troops, Tanks, Ships, and Planes?

They can’t manage just planes, I have my doubts.

i can dream.
