You know that every country except Russia and Japan also got an F-16 as its nuke carrier, right? Japan’s nuke aircraft is the F-2, which is basically an F-16 derivative.
Recent datamine also mentions that the new nuke aircraft all carry an internal gun, two Fox 3s, and two non-IRCCM Fox 2s, something the Mirage 2000N simply can’t do.
IIRC, the Mirage 2000N can’t carry Fox 3s at all, only Magic 2s, which are IRCCM missiles. Even if it could carry MICAs, its radar isn’t well suited for air-to-air combat. It lacks a proper pulse-Doppler search mode and TWS, so you’d have to rely on ACM or the HMD to acquire targets. On top of that, MICAs are in a completely different league compared to the first-generation Fox 3s carried by every other nuke aircraft, so I can see why Gaijin wouldn’t want to give those to a nuke plane.
The Mirage 2000N also doesn’t even have an internal gun, whereas every other nuke aircraft does.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Mirage 2000N added to the game, but I can also see why Gaijin went with the F-16 for France. It’s the same approach they’ve taken with pretty much every other nation in the game as all except the us and italy never used the f-16 adf.
Firstly i want to say that it’s really nice to see these posts, having the explanations behind the decisions really helps put things into perspective and makes a lot of the choices made and the intent behind them a lot clearer. I REALLY like the transparency!
For the optimization part of the post:
I’ve seen information about having multiple discrete servers running separate parts of the same map with seamless character and object transition between the “zones”. Is this sort of technology something that perhaps is already active or being tested in some way? Is it something that the development team has looked into as a means of optimizing server performance on such large scale missions as this? Would something like this even be possible for war thunder at all?
This 100%. Since this mode came out I’ve been looking forward to 50s era Nuclear Thunder, having F-86/F-100 vs MiG-15/17/19 is awesome. You’d have F-84F (or B-57) and Il-28 as the nuke bombers. Would also be a good opportunity to see B-36/B-47 and Tu-16 as strategic bombers. Its an interesting era for aviation often overlooked.

Will we be seeing Anti-Radiations missiles being added to the regular tech tree A6E and A7, as these only have access to them in the actual Nuclear Escalation event? possibly the AGM-78 STARM and the Shrike?
With more development in the naval side of things for NE mode and subs I can only hope maritime patrol aircraft will make their appearance Nimrod, P-1, P-2, P-3 etc
