Yeah nerfing the BUK rate of fire and adding altitude restrictions on it’s targets would eliminate the problem.

But the SAMPT would still be useless.

I think it would be fun with a very scaled down version of this too, maybe for 2 player PVE or 2v2

The KH31 is just like that tho, and widely used, ramjets and a modern seeker are a deadly combo.

IRL there aren’t 30 flying at the same time tho, the russians developed supersonic and hypersonic strike weapons for this reason, they lack the numbers, intelligence and organization to do advance strike packages, so they compensate with more expensive, longer ranged, faster weapons.

The kh38ml is widely used in urkaine and lacks a NATO equivalent, becouse for NATO it would be overkill, for russia is the only way to strike a target quicky.

US made MQ9 drones fly over Theran after complex strikes using hundreds of planes, cruise missles, drones etc etc , russians would have striked with isklanders and cruise missles, completely opposite doctrine.

Look at US vs China, the more peer to peer the fight is expected the faster, expensive, and longer ranged the weapons become.

Too bad in wt this is not represented, russians can spawn as many KH31 as they want, as many su30sm2 as they want and as many BUK as they want.

There are a few things you could tune to make long/medium range SAMs less oppressive. Just a few examples:

  • Introduce a minimum engagement distance
  • Don’t let them fire at everything they see but rather calculate a “probability to hit” depending on distance, speed and notch of the target and only fire if the probability is above a certain threshold (ammunition should be expensive, not just by value because of ammo availibility in the field but also because you have long reload times after firing all your shots)
  • Minimum engagement height (only attack targets above a certain height threshold, if the target goes below this threshold after being fired at, the missile will still engage)
  • Realistic reload times for magazines (multiple minutes instead of seconds for these systems)
  • Delay between detection → identification (type, friend or foe) → asessment (probability to hit, threat level, etc.) → firing of missile because there are humans in the loop in all of those systems and somebody has to give the command in the end

Like this you make them more realistic and much less oppressive without pulling their teeth too much and give ground attack and SEAD/DEAD players a chance to do something around the frontline.

We are on the same line with this, i suggested multiple times exactly the same things.

The problem remain for the SAMPT underperforming, i feel they are much more lethal in GRB, maybe they are just bugged?

i just tested kh31 against airfield aa in air rb
nato ai aa (ito 90) they just cant see kh31 at all

so they can add 64 of those and it wont matter

i tried the same thing with the agm 88 yesterday and those get intercepted reliably

Last time when I shot 4x Kh-31PD on SAMP-T position so all of them was intercepted. That was yesterday. Idk what changed because two days ago I needed only two Kh-31PD to neutralize the SAMP-T position with 100% certainty.

SAMPT on nuclear thunder can intercept KH31, the spam is just too much thanks to the longer range and high velocity, basically no launch requirements, and being so effective every other sukhoi will bring at least 2 to launch at random.

A 3k/d almost makes you break even. They are just messing with us at this point.

Agm88 style ARM are the only ones capable of destroying the moving sams, kh31 cannot, take it and use it for that pourpose, if you don’t know how to do it i can explain it to you easily.

With an f18, you can even try at a buk battery, i can also explain how to kill a whole buk battery with gbu39 consistently.

If you make agm88 slip trough then the kh38 will too as they have virtually the same flight performance, that would mean all frontline AA gets deatroyed by the russians and theyr kh38mt, meanwhile the agm65 will probably be stil useless.

Make the radar stay on the SAMs, and the long-range kh31 would destroy everything on the map, so once again, much worse for NATO.

Any change that isn’t buffing the SAMPT and limiting the BUK target selection will be just worse for NATO.

Those are frankly stupid, also the F15E should be capable of 28 gbu39/53.

And israel could receive the RAMPAGE multi pourpose missle, and the US the AGM88G but it’s still not in service (made for use against china, just like i was saying).

i launched 6 agm88 at an airfield 4 got intercepted
i launched 6 kh31 at the same airfield you know how many got intercepted? ZERO it didnt even get fired at, the vehicle turned towards the missile last second thats it
