As far as I could test it, the problem seems to be that it never enters the dive to the target ground location and just flies over it if the signal is lost before it entered its dive. As if it only flies to the X and Y coordinates without the data of the Z (height).
It would’ve been cool if there had been a small celebration event for the Nuclear Thunder Return. Like some decal and profile pictures
Itd be nice if samp t did something, only time I have seen it in killfeed is when one got intercepted.
But I guess only BUK is allowed to do anything.
It would’ve been cool if we could’ve brought the tornado with it’s 9 ALARM’s.
you are misisng a space before the

I have seen the same thing with kh31pd, it is probably shadow nerfed on all modern ARMs to not be too broken.
Same resukts in the russian side, but 9n the NATO side i was always 1 v 5 at altitude and stil lgot k8lled half the times by BUKs just spamming on me , even 40 km from the frintline the buk never stop firing so very time you go offensive you risk a buk to the face
I’m optimistic with my biggest critiques being:
- The Buk is simply far too oppressive
- Comparitively, the Kh-31 makes the SAMP/Ts trivial, pretty sure they don’t do anything once the TADS is destroyed, unlike the Buks which don’t care and keep firing
- Rewards and Respawn cost scaling is way off
- Spawning under the Carrier is very cool
- Joining near finished games
This is not only a balance issue, but a technical one as well.
Currently BUK radar can track through terrains, not just multipath, but an entire mountain. Or the BUK missiles are bugged being a FOX-3.
Another problem is, this mode is intended to be a SEAD map, however the AA turns off radar immediately after you fired, and their missile still can track and kill you. And don’t even mention the fact that they could easily shoot down your bombs & missiles because there are hordes of AA nearby.
I had instances of firing multiple HARMS to an 2S6 in sequence, during the time it turns off radar for each coming missile, but it still tracks my plane and killed me with its own missile.
Now back to the balance, if Gaijin really cares, they just need to pull up the AA kill data from their backend, just observe the RU side AA kill rate vs NATO AA per match.
Ive found that if they turn their radar off, instead of going to their last known location it just starts gliding in whatever direction it was going last. Its funny on the alarm due to how silly its range is, had an alarm in air rb last the entire match after i fired it 2 minutes in at the enemy af.
I had a 2S6 that I destroyed, still shoot me down with a missile it launched. They just aren’t using their systems; they are effectively aimbots spawning projectiles that track you no matter what. I’m sure it’s some long-winded technical reason, but that’s their cross to bear.
OMG you’re right… The Russian kit in Nuclear Escalation is exactly like the pre-nerf Ka50s in Heli PvP… Spamming missiles from 25% further than anyone else can, that fly 2-3 times as fast as anyone else (except the Starstreaks) and being so oppressive it killed the mode.
That being said, I used to love the catharsis of hinting Ka50s with my Lynx and AH Mk1, but the version of Nuclear Escalation doesn’t even give me that.
Don’t worry, they’re useless; AI SPAA and SAMs engage them despite the fact that they are coming in vertically (outside their radar pattern) and are often supersonic (so shouldn’t be heard so that’s not an excuse).
I’ve fired 9 ALARMs at an ARB airfield and had every single one be intercepted, despite firing from high altitude and speed.
Why do this to yourself? Gaijin knows what we think anyway
Russian ARM are virtually unusable at less than 10Km, it would be cool that the ryssian would have an edge in long range ARM and NATO in saturating the front line with shirter range ARM emgagements, too bad shirt range saclos AA does not use search radar lmao, i guess they just feel where the jets and theyr munitions are at all time
nah they work great at long range and often dont get intercepted, buks on the other hand will swat everything comming at them
I don’t understand what you mean with that first part? ALARMs are long range ARMs? So are the Kh31s; if you were using them at 10km then you’re using them wrong?
Also you say NATO are better at saturation attacks, but that’s not true, both for irl doctrine and in-game performance.
My understanding is that there is a mismatch in scale between the systems being used - Buk is not the peer of SAMPT, they are fundamentally different tools. It’s at this point that my brain is reminding me that the Devs and company culture remains very Russo-centric, so that doctrinal difference is obviously not going to be obvious to them.
I wish I could explain this better, but I’m typing on my phone and also would need a whiteboard and some diagrams, but essentially I believe there is a fundamental mismatch between:
- “What equipment is designed to be able to do”
- “What things are possible with the equipment”
- “What things are fun to do with the equipment”
- “How the equipment is really used”
I feel like you’re mixing them all up a little.
Agm88 work much better than kh31 inside 10km , kh31 work best than anything else at longer ranges. ALARM seems just useless but i never tried those
To the devs:
You guys need to really listen to the feed back provided here I hope for the player and even your benefit the next tests will have changes and improvements, I understand the current mode will not represent the final version as you have stated back in the April fools post but what we are seeing here is very buggy, very unbalanced and not fun and rewards are not worth the effort. You guys put the effort to make this mode so make it worthwhile and listen to the feedback.
