HISTORY
Production of the Mercedes GD started in 1980 at Gelandewagen Gesellschaft in a collaboration between Mercedes Benz and the Austrian Steyr Daimler Puch. The car could be delivered in a number of variants with different changes and was and is in widespread use in military and armed forces throughout the world as it is a vehicle that meets many needs and is very reliable and robust and not least easy to repair. Norway ordered its first Mercedes GD 240 wagons in 1983 and they were put into use in all branches of defense as a replacement for the aging Land Rovers and Volvo field wagons that had been used for a number of years. This variant was phased out around 2004 and sold, and a newer variant GD 290 replaced it.

Several Norwegian Mercedes GD 290 were rebuilt for use as patrol vehicles, these then had the Norwegian-developed sub-lavette NM165 mounted to be able to mount a 12.7x99mm machine gun of the M2 Browning type to ensure at least minimum firepower. They are very light and mobile vehicles that could be quickly moved and support infantry, but they could only be used to move in quickly and then run away as there is no protection or armor on the vehicle against incoming fire.

IN GAME
I believe that this could be a very fun vehicle in the game, as it is a very mobile and light vessel, which should be able to have enough elevation to be able to provide some protection against low-flying planes and helicopters, in addition to the machine gun having a good enough ammunition capacity and penetration performance to punch through lightly armored vehicles. But how it can be placed in a tree I don’t know, as it might not be so much fun with a vehicle from the 1980s in an era where you mostly use vehicles from the 1930-50s more or less.
