Chaff and flares were definitely planned, at least for the production F-23, according to one of the unclassified F-23 team design proposals below. See on the left side, in the Group Weight Statement chart:
However, I don’t have answers to questions like how many chaff and flares it could carry or where they would be installed. My assumption: The chaff and flare dispensers might be modeled after the F-22A Raptor’s.

Interestingly, this included planned provisions for both the IRST and missile launch detection sensors. More official F-23 drawings exist online, but they’re locked behind paywalls.

Luckily then we have a precedent set by the Yak-141 that aircraft planned to receive countermeasures can get them. Good news to hear!
Anyway +1 from me, it’s an iconic prototype aircraft and I hope we see it someday. As for how it should be added, anything (EXCEPT A PREMIUM) should be fine really.

Seeing how the F-20 ended up as premium I am a bit worried.
+1, but i dont think it should get sidewinders, countermeasures, or radar. afaik only AMRAAM was meant to be fired from weapons bay on the YF-23. APG-77 could have been changed to fit better in ways we cannot really know for sure, and while I’m sure the F-23 wouldve gotten countermeasures, the YF-23 didnt have them.
as we both know, IRST was dropped later in program, so even this drawing may not be accurate to final F-23
That is incorrect It had a trapeze design to launch the Aim-9s as you can see in the cut out above. For testing there was no requirement for firing so Northrop left out fire controls and it only carried a inert AIM-120 for testing. There was a few other designed that would have made it more advance than the F-22 such as a rotatory launcher they were thinking for the production variant but I could only see that launching the cost through the roof. Which is probably what the Air Force saw as well.
Cool unique aircraft in history though.

This might be a bit of a snafu with getting it into the game, however I do believe it did conduct captive carriage of them.

Has anyone managed to obtain this exceptionally valuable book, Northrop YF-23 ATF (Air Force Legends, 220)? It might contain undisclosed information and details that most of us haven’t seen. I do sure hope it won’t be a premium. Gaijob: “We are introducing 5th gen jets, therefore we will put a 5th gen premium into the game so we can make sure that players can buy their way to the top”
I’m happy this helps solidify the YF-23 as a “semi-confirmed” upcoming addition, but of course, it won’t be official until Gaijin confirms it directly through a news post or devblog.
Money talks. Unfortunately. Seeing what they did to the Comanche with the RCS modelled, the pattern would be repeated for the YF-23A. Oh well.
I’m curious about what possible weapons loadouts the YF-23A might have once it arrives. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how Gaijin handles its armament.
