HISTORY
The Nimbus Model C was built by the Danish company Fisker & Nielsen located in Copenhagen. It was produced between 1934 and 1960 and came in variants both without and with sidecarts. The side carts was used for a number of purposes by the Danish army, such as ammunition carrier, 20mm carrier, this 8mm anti air armed verison, radiostations and troop transport. This motorcycle remained in service as recent as to the 1970’s. At its introduction, the vehicle was ahead of its time with innovations such as overhead camshaft, automatic advance ignition and a telescopic fork. The vehicle was also attemted to be sold to several nations with several weapons configurations, but none of the projects got to anything.
This combination was used by the Danish anti-aircraft battery for many years to come, i don’t know the exact dates but i know someone who was educated on one of these vehicles in 1958, so it was probably in use as recent as the 1968 when the Nimbus motorcycle was replaced by the new BSA B40WD motorcycle in 1968.
This specific vehicle features an Model 1929 Madsen machinegun chambered in the 8x58mmR Krag cardtigde, originally designed for use in the Danish adopted Krag Jørgensen rifles, but was also used in various machineguns. It was a great cartridge used for many years to come, both in military and since civilian use for hunting and sporting purposes. Its magazine capacity is 30 rounds and its effecive range is 2 kilometer.
IN GAME
As this is an unique vehicle from Denmark, featuring a Danish motorcycle with an Danish machinegun, this would be a quite cool addition to the game as an low tier SPAA! either in an Swedish subtree or as a part of a Norwegian and Danish combined independent techtree!
