The development of the Tien Kung-I (also designated TK-1) was initiated in 1981 by the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology
The Chungshan Institute also developed a large, multi-function, phased-array radar, known as Chang Bai (meaning “big white”), for use with the Tien Kung series missiles.
It has a 120° coverage and a maximum range of 450 km. Two versions of this radar exist, the first being a mobile version, installed on a trailer, and the second being a fixed model installed in hardened buildings

The Chang Bai radar would be based on Lockheed Martin’s ADAR-HP (Air Defense Array Radar-High Power) concept, and would operate in the frequency range of 2 to 4 GHz (S-band).

Only surviving M1E2 prototype.
Archival documents from the Ballistic Research Laboratory (BRL) prove that the “M1E2” designation was originally assigned years in 1984–1985, to The 105mm Tank Gun Enhancement Program (105E).
The 105E program combined a modified 105mm breech mechanism with the experimental XM24 gun tube. The XM24 was an extra-long 105mm barrel, approximately 7 meters long i.e L/67 vs L/52 for 105 L7/M68.
Main purpose was enabling older M1s and M60 to fire XM900 with less barrel wear and higher pen. This XM900 used a 515mm dart. After XM24 was cancelled, the XM900E1 was later designed n introduced with a longer 680mm dart ~ that was later adopted as M900/M900A1 to fire from regular 105mm M68.
Using Lanz-Odermatt, in WT, the XM24 + XM900 would achieve roughly ~420mm of flat pen vs 497mm pen of M68 + M900. But if ahistorically, the XM24 was made to fire the later longer M900 dart, it would’ve achieved up to roughly ~530mm–540mm of pen.
An M60 was also modified to test XM24/105E called M60A3E1(105E).
