[Vehicle Suggestion] LAV-25 (United States, Light Reconnaissance Vehicle)
📝 Summary:
I propose the addition of the LAV-25, a light armored reconnaissance vehicle used by the United States Marine Corps since the early 1980s, into the American ground forces tree in War Thunder.
📖 Historical Background:
The LAV-25 (Light Armored Vehicle) was introduced in 1983 as a fast, all-terrain reconnaissance vehicle. It was based on a Canadian 8x8 chassis design, adapted for U.S. Marine Corps needs. Armed with a 25 mm M242 Bushmaster cannon, it has served in numerous conflicts:
- Operation Desert Storm (1991)
- Operation Iraqi Freedom
- Afghanistan and global peacekeeping missions
Over the years, the LAV-25 has proven to be a versatile, reliable, and mission-critical vehicle for U.S. forces.
🎮 Why It Fits War Thunder:
1. Unique Gameplay Role
- Highly mobile (up to 100 km/h), lightly armored, and ideal for flanking, recon, and supporting maneuvers.
- Bridges the gap between light tanks and IFVs like the M3 Bradley or M1128 Stryker.
2. Expands Modern Tech Tree
- Helps develop the light vehicle branch of the U.S. tree, which currently lacks high-tier light recon options.
- Opens the door to additional LAV variants (ATGM, AA, mortar, etc.).
3. Historical Accuracy
- Has seen extensive real-world combat use, aligning well with War Thunder’s focus on historically significant military equipment.
4. Popular Demand
- The LAV-25 is well known among players and military enthusiasts — its inclusion would attract both veteran players and newcomers.
🔧 Suggested Vehicle Stats (est.)
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Crew | 3 |
Armament | 25 mm M242 Bushmaster + 7.62 mm coax |
Armor | Light armor (anti-fragmentation) |
Mobility | 8x8 wheeled, ~100 km/h |
Optics | NVD + Thermal Imaging |
Role | Recon / Support / Flanker |
🧩 Placement in Tech Tree
It could be placed around BR 8.0–9.0, likely after the M3 Bradley and before or alongside the M1128 Stryker.
📌 Conclusion
The LAV-25 is a fast, iconic and battle-proven vehicle that brings a new dimension to U.S. ground forces. Its addition would enhance gameplay variety, reinforce historical authenticity, and align with the game’s ongoing shift toward modern combined arms combat.

So many LAV variants for USA, gaijin plz add. I want them all and they would be fun to play.
Did you take the effort to write this yourself? Or did you ask something else? Because if you’re not doing it yourself it seems disingenuous.

never seen this in my life, WHY DID THEY MAKE THE LEVCONS SO SMALL
If its a trainer, then the full levcons aren’t really needed
levcons looks so nice on su57 ngl
maybe its for the s70 okhotniks, as its hard to control both the plane and the drone by a single pilot
I just copied the data from Wikipedia and asked ChatGPT to format it nicely.

Born as a modernization of the AMX-30EM2 by Santa Bárbara Sistemas in 1989, it never really went anywhere due to the ERA being quite heavy (comparable to BLAZER ERA). If I’m correct, about 3 tests took place between 1989 and 1993-95. The plan was to modernize 150 AMX-30EM2 with SABBLIR, but it was too costly and we went with M60A3 tanks instead, which were quickly replaced by the Leopard 2A4E.
I’ve read comments of ex-soldiers who tried it during their service, in one instance a company fired 12 MILAN ATGMs at a block of SABBLIR ERA from 1km away (only 1 missile hit the target), and it worked well. In fact, it protected against TOW ATGMs too.
The composition of the ERA is a first layer of explosive, followed by 2cm of space and a second ceramic layer. Protection was good (I’d argue better than the BRENUS even), the only issue was mobility. The SABBLIR ERA added about 1 ton more of weight, but that wasn’t the real issue, it was the “damn gearbox”, as many veteran drivers refer to it. It was too weak and you could mistake the gears easily because they were so close.
UGH it’s a real shame we didn’t adopt it. Looked so cool. As a fun fact, the AMX-30EM2 was know by their crews as “Mickey”.
sad
And it stores 10 anti-tank mines!
It’s a Mk.2 with a 120mm gun from the Mk.3. Pretty cool if you ask me.

🇱🇹 Lithuania’s Upcoming
Leopard 2A8
CV90
Vilkas
PzH 2000
RBS-70 NG SHORAD
- Some pretty interesting upcoming vehicles for Lithuania. The two most interesting are the in-game Vilkas and the RBS-70 NG SHORAD off of the JLTV-platform. We already have the Vilkas and PzH 2000 in-game under Germany but the Leopard 2A8, RBS-70 NG MSHORAD, and CV90 Mk. IV (Mk. V[?] as listed on sources) w/ APS would be fun to see, especially with future Lithuanian Skins/Military Symbols.
