Except that’s not where the CM’s were planned to be dispensed from.
On the two test aircraft the dispensers were removed as they would block the mounting of the dummy AMRAAMs and were planned to be reinstalled into the wing fairings on production models.

The issue with the XL is that the devs have given it the planned CM’s but haven’t modelled the dispensers for them. They could even have just not modelled the dispensers but change where the flares appear from to be accurate but they haven’t.
This is not a clipping issue like with the F-15C GE. It is an entirely separate issue.
The over dramatization here is unreal. 12x AIM-120D is a good loadout. You can also just run 8x 120D 4x 120B. The F-15CGE is still a very good plane, nothing changed.
If you want to run IR missiles with this loadout, wait for the AIM-9X which has clipped fins.
it was planned to only have 60 flares?
to my knowledge that was only supposed to be for chaff, and an additional spine extension for the flares
Sure, if it loses the AESA Radar, drops down to a 4+4 weapons fit and loses the BOL.
tbf, i woudlnt count on gajin to consider that
no, BOL should go on every USAF F-15
you can also just drop 4 AMRAAM for 2 9Ms if you really want IR missiles (you still get 10 missiles)
All of them have more than enough internal countermeasures. I don’t even run BOL on my spaded F-15 golden eagle because I think the pylon looks quite ugly.

The real count is unknown but safest bet is the same amount as was originally on the airframe.
