I’m already preparing a message to favour Regenerative Steering for whenever the Devs open up the vote! Subject to change, but, so far, the idea is:
As fearful as I am for the fate of Regenerative Steering falling into the community’s hands, I hope the playerbase will make it right and vote in favor of it.
Regenerative steering is the right choice, both in terms of gameplay and in terms of realism. Modern MBTs, in real life, use this feature to turn without losing all their speed and energy. They don’t turn like tractors did in the 1920s anymore. In terms of gameplay, it will enhance and smoothen out the driving experience by not making modern tanks lose all their speed upon any turn’s execution.
The community has been asking for this mechanic since 2017, when the suggestion was passed to the developers for the first time, during the introduction of the “new ERA” of Ground Vehicles in 1.71.
Now, at last, after 9 years, we are given the chance to finally have it.
Do not fumble this. Make it right. Don’t take away the chance for modern MBTs to ACTUALLY turn and feel like modern MBTs. Vote YES.
I see that, iirc the AARGM-ER is being ordered for the German EW variant of EFT, but isn’t yet equipped and integrated with it, that’s why I’m confused with the “IRL” part of your statement. Better to state “proposed” rather than “IRL” which makes it sound as if it’s an in-service equipment.
Release speeds are not the entire point. The entire point is effect on target, and I’ll take a bit of shenanigans to get a munition off the rail if it has a greater probability of providing effect on the other side of those shenanigans.
The IRL part was perhaps more in-line with the fact we have been artificially limited to only 2x ARM, rather than 6 as has been documented with many weapons such as ALARM, but also similarly sized weapons like Marte-ER.
But then, if Gaijin has deemed “AGM-88C too weak for other nations compared to KH-31” then it stands to reason that should also apply to the Typhoon. Which is also has the lowest ARM count of any top tier aircraft iirc
