By this logic could MAWS be added to a variant of an aircraft that doesn’t have it if all the mounting points are there and there is some level of software compatibility

They gave LDIRCM to AH-64Es. AH-64E was exported to other countries, while they may not have bought/provided with LDIRCM, they are comptable in the most direct way possible. On the other hand what you have described requires more sever convention.
I laugh every time you guys use this excuse as a reason to leave people in the dark. Normal people have deadlines to meet at work and they meet them. When something unexpected occurs they notify their customers about it and explain the situation. It’s normal business practice.

But they aren’t all the same, different production models. Plus there is the solid chance that CIRCM requires some special modification or software update for it to even work.

Same goes for weapons, software reqires update. It is a little thing to close eyes for, unlike with MAWs you are talking about thing that literally needs plane to be sent back to factory and changed. New holes in hull cut out, new wiring put in.
