Indeed they are cooking, I am pretty certain this is prototyping for ECM/EW
I was referring to ECM since they will probably reuse some elements from the rwr of the helis for the jammers found in planes.
Tho this devblog pretty much confirms that if the su-57 is added it will have a fully functional DIRCM.

Not necessarily, we don’t have DIRCM on any aircraft yet. The YINGS-III TGP on the J-10C and J-16 apparently can function as DIRCM but we don’t have that capability in game.
I remember a bug report being accepted on it a while back, no idea if anything came from it though.
This is a misconception, which stems from the fact that a poster featuring the DIRCM was placed next to a mockup of this targeting pod.
