Next Major Update - Rumor Roundup & Discussion (Part 1)

there’s an F-16 from 1979 still flying in RJAF

Also the Block 15/20 MLUs now in active duty in Ukraine

I believe if this was a contest, North Korea would win

Wrong plane used. They still use an2s

The new submarine torpedo added to the files last major had code for passive homing initially, it 's far from impossible that we would see that kind of weapon when or soon after subs come in whatever form is soonest next. Plus there is the torpedo mode toggle keybind and the reworked, separated active and passive sonar sensors added earlier this year to consider too.

I vaguely remember the ships in the submarine event from 3 years ago having working sonars

Colombia should win with their AC-47T

Close enough for me as it does include in game content

The modelling of the sonar in that event was equally vague; the new ones meet the bare minumum of differentiating between types that produce noise and those that only listen.

I had to look those up, because I was about to ask whether transport planes should even count, but they actually use them as gunships for counter-insurgency

im sure the DC-3 will fly until the end of humanity at this point

I mean, if you count the AC-47T (or rather BT-67) as a DC-3, you might as well go further and call it a DC-1

It’s still the same fuselage design after all

It will fly even after the end of the universe. DC-3 is eternal.

It’s in the name

My brain somehow hasn’t made the connection that AC might stand for Attack Cargo until now

because it already stands for:

  • Ace Combat
  • Assassin’s Creed and
  • Asseto Corsa
