about the Sep V3 how is the armour situation like again? The frontal armour is supposed to be thicker correct? How is it like in-game right now compared to the SEPv2?
Additional I woukd also like to see the animations fixed for the EMBT Suspension and for the H145M Rotors/Doors which are still static from 3rd person…
Balance comes first.
Better armour modelling doesn’t make the tanks feel different, the gameplay will still be exactly the same.
Ground top tier feels stagnated because it literally has stagnated. There are no more jumps ahead without getting into MBTs that haven’t entered service yet and even those will feel almost exactly the same as the current top tier MBTs.
Still waiting for the Challenger 3s damage model to match the 3D model
2A7A1 is in Service :3
Would a 2A7 with Trophy really feel any different than one without Trophy?
In the 1990s, a proposed package increased M1’s hull effectiveness by 35% KE, which would have made the hull at least imprevious to 3BM42.
It would make sense to assume that, at the very least, the Americans would have implemented a similar package to the 2010s SEPv3.
But the devs didn’t even give it that old value. Instead, they only increased SEPv3’s protection by 16% KE compared to M1, so it’s incapable of even withstanding 3BM42.
As of now, SEPv3’s hull armor is barely Leopard 2A5-level despite being 20 years more modern and several tons heavier.
Basically;
M1: 370mm KE.
War Thunder SEPv3: 430mm KE.
Minimally sensible SEPv3: 500mm KE.
Yes, because you would not die every 2nd time to a Russian CAS/Tanks/IFVs
Guys, there is Infantry Test but ww2 mode
Can Trophy intercept regular tank shells or did USSR players switch to gun launched ATGMs on their MBTs because their APFSDS sucks balls?
This
In that case Trophy actually makes the balance problem even worse for redfor lol
But I’ll grant you that, it would make the 2A7A1 feel different, just not for a good reason when it comes to tank to tank combat
Better Optics
Up armoured compared to 2A6, not META shifting as its only a Sidegrade to 2A7V
Better Mobility than 2A7V
Sounds good enough to me
Still just a Leo 2 at the end of the day.
That’s what I’m trying to say regarding the stagnation.
There definitely are some tanks left that would probably play differently, like the 130/140mm armed MBTs and the ones with unmanned turrets.
Even though I hate top tier, stuff like the KF51, Leo 2 A-RC or Leo 2-140 or other nations’ equivalents would pique my interest enough to try to get into proper top tier.
A Leo 2A7A1, Strv 123 or even the proper Challenger 3 wouldn’t be different enough from what I can play at 10.7 to get me to subject myself to CAS and FnF heli torture
Something with Iron Fist would also be cool, but sadly most militaries went with Trophy :(
Perhaps they could start implementing technological elements of FCSs to make modern MBTs feel modern.
For example; HUD elements could pop up on detected enemy vehicles; tracking could be implemented, even with lead, etc.
I know some people dislike the idea, or at least that was the case a few years ago, but I think it would be great if 2020s MBTs felt different from the 1990s ones, and technology is the only way to achieve this.
Well, I definitely wouldn’t be against some FCS functionality being modelled, but a lead indicator might be a bit too much
It’s a cool concept, but I think lead indicators would make the aiming process a bit too easy lol
(Except for tracking and leading against planes and helis, that’s fine with me)
Maybe! If lead indicator is deemed too much, maybe tracking and HUD elements around targets could still feel modern enough.
By the HUD elements around targets, I mean this, as you can see in War Thunder’s own cinematic trailer “Dancing on the Edge”:
Even just the range being set instantly and automatically without having to press the rangefinder button everytime would be a start.
But Gaijin doesnt seem to like modeling that kind of thing. Still annoys me that WW1, WW2 and cold war era ships all have the same FCS, optics etc
From a gameplay point of view, you wouldn’t want to take too much of the manual aiming process away from the player.
If everything gets automatically ranged and the game even gives you a lead indicator, the game turns into a glorified point-and-click adventure.
Isnt that basically what modern tank vs tank combat largely is though?
But I was thinking as an alternative to the lead incidactor, rather than in addition to it.
Rangefinder > laser rangerfinder > modern rangefinder
or something like that
Just a way to make more modern vehicles feel different to older ones. Even if it still had a bit of a lag, like 1 second. It basically removes a single keybind.
