Yeah but in general you’d need to add several hundred meters long strips next to all AA/depot… position for even just a C130 to land and take off. I just don’t really see planes having to land to drop cargo. Maybe helis tho, but then you’d have a balancing issue compared to cargo planes which would be faster, with more cargo, and not needing to land

256x256 BVVD has said so that means space for bigger air ports maybe a full sized airport
They’ll probably have you land on airfields to help repair them after they take some damage, or perform airdrops onto destroyed airfields to repair the runway to then land and repair the rest of the airfield.

We’ll have to see what they do to the maps and how they plan to implement cargo aircraft. Larger AA sites could have STOL strips next to them in the future.
Well, we don’t know what cargo aircraft they plan to add in general or how they are going to work. If they are just AI vehicles, there is very little that has to be done to implement them in a functional way.
But you’d still need to place strips next to every asset that can be reloaded. It’s not really a matter of map size, just of the sheer number of assets on the map. Also, for overall balance, having cargo planes landing every time would make them highly vulnerable to a low penetrating jet, especially with IIR missiles which probably will be added this year, which will become huge threats to those unarmed and landed planes

I could see this happening, especially for the long range SAM sites and the EWR sites too.
But the shorter range SAM sites and maybe depots you’ll likely need to use helicopters or airdrops.

Won’t ECM have an even greater benefit for Gen 5 than for 4.5, 4.5+
Why are people convinced ECM is a requirement to add before stealth comes to WT
each team should have an airport the size of Edwards airforce base with lots of health instead of 5 small airfields
ECM would be needed for next gen missiles, the planes themselves would be fine, as long as they are limited to the current missile tech we have
well both benefit from it but 4.5+ doesn’t have stealth so they would need it to stay competitive against the stealth

I don’t know if they currently are, but I’d expect them to still be the big ones with loads of AA

Why are you so convinced that they are going to add a C-5?
Gen 4.5 would benefit more than gen 5 imo. The problem will be that gen 5 will be hard to detect. ECM/ESM would make them more easily detectable and traceable as long as they have their radar turned on.
Many Gen 4.5 also have IRST capabilities which would allow them to fire while the radar is turned off, which is not the case of the F22 for example, so they’ll be less impacted by gen 5 ECM
ECM will also significantly improve survivanility against the long range ARH which might come soon of every aircraft in the game
even a fully loaded c-17 doesn’t have enough space in game and C-5 being added because why not? its the peak of military cargo planes
Why would space matter? Especially on the size of maps we have (128x128km right now and a seperate 256x256km in the future), there is absolutely no need for giant cargo planes like the C-5 or An-124/225.
They are most likely gonna add some cargo helis and a couple of the smaller cargo planes, stuff that would be able to take off from small airfields and land on small airfields.
