Here are some current rumors about upcoming content that could be coming to the game with the next major update (2.59) for War Thunder! Keep an eye out on this post as I will update it with new information as we get it!

When will the next major update arrive?

The third major update of the year usually goes live in September:
2.49 “Tusk Force”- 23 September 2025
2.39 “Dance of Dragons”- 10 September 2024
2.29 “Sons of Attila”- 19 September 2023

Upcoming content confirmed or hinted by Gaijin (developer or CM comments, appearances in trailers, dev streams, or the dev server) will be in this color. Otherwise, any content below this point is a RUMOR and is not confirmed to be coming to the game.

Exocet missiles, AARGM-ER

Rumored Features and Mechanics (not guaranteed to be in the upcoming update) and Denied Features:
Playable Carriers, many related files datamined in both desktop and mobile clients
Confirmed, with a potential timeframe:
Fifth Generation aircraft could come but no sooner than the second half of 2026, according to BVVD (we are in the second half of 2026 now)
RCS modeling for munitions planned for 2026
Fujian, Nimitz, and other carriers (not playable) planned for 2026
More naval vessels planned for Nuclear Escalation
Confirmed, but no timeframe:
Strategic bombers are being considered as event or squadron vehicles
Submarines, confirmed by BVVD, many related files datamined in desktop client, BVVD says the developers are optimistic about progress.
Scouting mechanics and additional weapons for armed UAVs

Latest “educated guess” lists:
Remember, these are not official or confirmed. The information also contradicts official statements in some places, and there have been no further updates since this list was initially posted last year.

DO NOT ask community managers or forum staff to comment on leaks or “guesses,” they can’t comment on such things. Official statements hold the most weight!

So far all fan favourites + Admiral Scheer are exciting to test drive. There were reasons ğeople wanting them on trees Gaijin.

damn looks like the beginning of the Singaporean vehicles entering the game was true that’s scary cause even if just an educated guess list its been scarily accurate about some stuff.

When we were getting the “educated guess” lists regularly, it was clear that they did have access to insider information about Gaijin’s long-term plans. It seems like, at least in the short term, they are not leaking each update’s vehicles anymore.

However, as I have edited my post to reflect, their predictions are not always 100% correct and sometimes they contradict the official statements made by community managers and such. For example, the Su-47 has been directly deconfirmed by Smin much more recently than the “leak” post claiming that it’s coming.

It’s all murky territory.

Specific Rumored Vehicles

I don’t know if you’re including event vehicles here, but the last CMD stated a British tank with the name of a single edged sword is the next event.

There’s two options for that; a late model Scimitar or the CVRT Sabre. Both if which have been in the files, but the Sabre specifically reappeared with the last devserver

Community Update No.8: Responses and What’s Coming!

Korea is one example of a tree we have planned. Not necessarily in the short term or even the “next” one (subject to change of course, plans can change). It was answered today in the context of Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and our general plans for the ASEAN nations. We have not ruled out other nations or trees. Just they are not the subject for today.

Its not purely about “on paper” stats, but other factors like the warhead/seeker, behaviour and other elements to consider too. Because he had everything developed, same goes with modules, if you have something spaded you get on the fist match you get a lot of experience at once

im sorry if im gonna sound annoying but the response isnt that good

how come the SU17M4 gets 2 ARM at 11.0 the SU-39 gets 6 at 11.3 the tornado RET.8 gets 4 at 11.7 but the tornado gr.1 cant get 2 at 11.3 or even 11.7 if needed, why is it ONLY the ALARM that cant be added below 12.0? some reconsideration would be amazing in my opinion

side question, why does the EF2K only get 2 HARMS at top tier when the F18 gets 6 and so does the SU-30SM2? or atleast the russian HARM equivalent.

Doesn’t F-18E/C get 4 with 2 being on pylon 2 and 3 and other 2 being on pylon 10 and 9 (For F-18E, i don’t remember for F-18C)?
