Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

are people getting their cbt emails yet?

They have been for a least a day or so now.

proof?

Its not just the US though. For example the Harrier T10 and Gr7 have internal ECM and the Tornado F3 was known for some EW capability via its radar (known to totally jam Mig-29s and Su-27s when they targeted them) and yes, some would need external ECM pods, aircraft like the Harrier Gr3 and Tornado IDSs wouldnt really be impacted by the decision to run Sky Shadow/Blue Eric and even those that would, such as on the Jaguars and Bucs, it wouldnt be that impactful,

Im expecting a fairly limited introduction, with quite a few “game limitations” anyway, but Im not really sure why you’d expect the US to be any more or less affected than other nations, they generally have a reputation for getting things earlier and the stronger than most.

Maybe, but given just how buggy radars are and how easy ARH is to defeat, I doubt they wanted to added another factor to the equation

Guess i gotta do everything around here. Geez.

Maybe, it entirely depends on what is added and how

whyd u send it twice

I mean thats kinda what im hoping for. ECM will give them the room to make ARH missiles a lot more dangerous in general. They’re all gimped in one way or another.

My computer lagged. Im sorry. T_T

Yeah, that is true. But I doubt gaijin will

theyre gimped in the way that all arhs have 16km hard lock

I need Smin and Pic to wake up already.

Pretty sure they all can lock at 20km currently. That’s when the seeker actually turns on.

I mean thats what i mean about ecm being a giant bubble of no radar missiles. Ir meta will return?

My guess for implementation.

ECM will have specific frequencies it affects, so it wont affect all radars and some radars might be more resistant than others. So that might mean that just because you have ECM, it doesnt mean you will be safe from everyone, might not be safe from anyone.

Im also expecting a range in which ECM has reduced effectiveness or just stops working to model radars being able to overpower the ECM. I dont think all radar mode types are affected equal either (ECM is a weakspot in my knowledge, but I think i recall something about PD radars being less affected or something)

So they might limit the range you can fire in some situations but wouldnt necessarily be a shield, but rather just a hurdle, to make shots harder.

Afaik, pd radars are more resistant to ECM in general but it heavily depends on the radar set in question. AESA/PESA are even more resistant to ecm and need specific frequencies to jam any kind of oncoming missile, even those are heavily dependent on the radar in question though. As a general rule. The bigger the actual radar set is the more power it has to burn through ECM. The F14 and Mig25/31’s radars come to mind in that sense. They’re both huge so they put out so much radiation that they can still see and even track you through the ECM of their respective day at quite distant ranges.

Yep, so it wont be a total defence, but im looking forward to some of it though, like Sky Shadow I think is suppose to be perticularly effective against the F-4s radar, so that will be a decent buff for the 11.3/11.7 Tonkas

The lock ranges are all 16km according to the statcards
grafik

Yes but in the files it is 16km for an rcs of 3, and all air targets ingame appear to have an rcs larger than 3 unless perhaps a drone, stealth like F-117, and etc,

But the files state that the seeker turns on at 20km away, and nothing is stopping it from locking onto an aircraft at 20km instantly.
