I really wish they’d introduce a proper artillery mechanic into the game. Something that allows for true indirect fire, maybe a lighter version of a nuke or drone strike, but without the massive point cost.
The artillery could be positioned outside the playable map, and teammates could relay coordinates to the battery.
That way, squads could call in targeted indirect fire to support pushes, break defensive lines, or disrupt enemy movements.
I’ve discussed this with people before, and usually the general consensus is no. On top of Gaijin stating that they won’t implement any mechanics like this (they said it twice in the Q&A, once directly and the other by stating that players “seem to want” smaller maps), how to actually kill these artillery units is the the problem. It would require very large playable areas (which again, is against Gaijins plans). I would love to do indirect fire, but it’s highly unlikely.
Speaking of mid ranks, surely they’ll cook up a BR decompression, any day now.
We know the devs suffer just as much as we do when playing 12.3s vs 13.3 premiums especially.
Cuz they play the game. Right? Lmao
Yea and “enjoy” it for sure.
Especially stock grinds at top tiers right? It’s simple, they just click “purchase all modifications”. Grind focused game and all.
As well as being in touch with reality lol
Not exactly sure what your evidence or basis is for this claim and whilst I cannot personally speak on behalf of every single CM and Dev who plays the game, I dont use the “buy all mods” button and I dont know of anyone that does (other than on dev server or when testing vehicles for reports).
I prefer to play vehicles until I spade them and then move on. Sometimes coming back to finish one later if im looking forward to something else.
Oxy for example streams regularly showcasing himself playing vehicles from stock to spaded before moving on and up.
I can say with certainty that you don’t need to press that button.
Vehicles that are provided to Community Managers or Developers who contribute to the game receive special handling, they’re delivered fully set up from the start, so those extra steps aren’t required.
I got my own sources that I shall not disclose.
Even IF you ( or the devs) do grind a vehicle from stock to spade, the argument of having a sort of “balanced” game falls completely flat when you consider that a lot of the legacy vehicles severely underperform or become powercrept and are not touched even if their statistics show that they’re clearly just garbage.
On the other hand the under BRed premiums paint the picture of someone or something having zero feel for balance as well.
If the dev team truly “played the game IN ITS ENTIRETY” then we’d probably be seeing a more sensible balancing.
On the topic of official livestreams though, that’s just showcases that sadly don’t contribute to my or any good/sensible player’s view of the game.
Yes that is true, but I think the collection of ideas they have about what players like (like map size), and the general direction they have started to go with the game, is a strong indication that a feature like indirect fire on howitzers, is something that will not happen. It seems as if Gaijin wants War Thunder to be like World of Tanks/Planes/Ships combined into one, plus being slightly more realistic.
I’m not sure what the construction of the company is, and I hate to play devils advocate (especially for Gaijin), but I imagine that there is a group above the developers, who truly make the decisions. However, there is a serious case against these “decisions” being consumer friendly, and that these “decisions” are “totally” not driven by lining one’s own pockets.
