Yeah, as soon as you said that i realized i misspoke. Again i apologize. I meant rwr based.
It would help the US top tier out since it is a rougher spot rn as well as like you said not having access to MAW. The F15’s have had the TEWS - RWR, AN/ALQ-135 internal ECM, and AN/ALE-45 chaff/flare dispenser for over 50 years. The F18E also has the AN/ALQ-214 in a similar setup.
Iirc it is only planned for sometime in the 2030s, even if they do end up going through with buying Kaan. Considering the games current development pace you aren’t too far off with 6th gen aircraft by then.
They are suppposed to receive one of the prototypes, and considering the involvement in the development as well I think that one is fairly safe. Though there’s still the question if they will ever actually procure them to get later blocks, especially the planned 5th gen KF-21.
Assuming they want to add them fairly, I would imagine that they will be from a range of years with some of the earliest being the AJ168 (ARM) and Shrikes all the way up to AGM-88 HARM and ALARMs.
If everyone got internal ecm at top tier, wouldn’t you just be back at square one since everyone still has more features than US aircraft, just with ecm being proliferated?
ECM is one of the things I think has been hinted at via:
but it wouldnt be added in a Vacuum, It is a widely used technology for all nations, and thus would come to all nations at the same time
Historically the west has been far ahead of the combloc when it came to ECM. Most of Russia’s stuff is relatively new in comparison. So there will likely be some imbalance there. Then again, It’s not russian so it cant possibly exist. just marketing lies i’m afraid.
yep, at lower BRs, it would be almost exclusively on western aircraft, which is funny considering that the soviets have the only passive CM system in-game (for fixed wing)
New datamines is out for Infantry
True but some older aircraft specifically in the US tree like the F15A/C, F18A/C, F14A/B will be getting ECM. This will mess up BR’s which could effect: A) artificially gimping performance of the US internal type ECM systems even for top tier since they are very similar B) overpowering now under BR’d older aircraft or C) changing BR’s around which is unlikely due to performance/offensive munitions. Other nation’s trees don’t have this issue with older aircraft. Most if not all other nation aircraft needed external pods until recently.
To be honest, its probably why they’ve been so hesitant to add until now. :/
In fact, tech trees famously without aircraft that utilizes maws may be worse off after ecm is added for everyone since it may diminish rwr’s ability to pick up missiles at range for everyone, leading to more reliance on maws for detecting missile threats adequately in time.
ECM will definitely be grounded in reality and wont be a magic bubble of only ir missiles… You just gotta believe.
are people getting their cbt emails yet?
They have been for a least a day or so now.
proof?
Its not just the US though. For example the Harrier T10 and Gr7 have internal ECM and the Tornado F3 was known for some EW capability via its radar (known to totally jam Mig-29s and Su-27s when they targeted them) and yes, some would need external ECM pods, aircraft like the Harrier Gr3 and Tornado IDSs wouldnt really be impacted by the decision to run Sky Shadow/Blue Eric and even those that would, such as on the Jaguars and Bucs, it wouldnt be that impactful,
Im expecting a fairly limited introduction, with quite a few “game limitations” anyway, but Im not really sure why you’d expect the US to be any more or less affected than other nations, they generally have a reputation for getting things earlier and the stronger than most.
Maybe, but given just how buggy radars are and how easy ARH is to defeat, I doubt they wanted to added another factor to the equation
Guess i gotta do everything around here. Geez.
Maybe, it entirely depends on what is added and how
