What Malaysian aircraft could “strengthen” the tree ?, or is this another term of we like other nations to have more soviet things ?

Yes and no, they generally have some very unique modifications, especially their “westernized” Soviet aircraft.
Personally I’m also really interested in the F/A-18D, for two reasons. One it’s a twin seat aircraft only because Malaysia hasn’t bought any sigle seaters and we don’t get nearly enough of those, but also because it shares a tree with Thailand.
The eight Thai F/A-18 (BKh20) all started construction and nearly a quarter of the deal was paid, but since the financial crisis in 1997 made completing the deal impossible they (four Cs and four Ds) were all completed as D models and put into USMC service instead. So the Malaysian Hornet with a semi-historical marketplace camo is a great way to get a callback to what could’ve been.

they should give Japan the F-15SG,Su-30MKM and Indonesian Rafale at the same time just to annoy everybody. Figure out a way to throw a Eurofighter in there as well and its perfect.

Could also give them a F-16C/D Block 52+ from Singapore too. Would pretty much be the Sufa but without the Israeli weapons.
Honestly it might make more sense to instead of having multiple separate sub trees for Japan to just have ASEAN with Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and also Singapore rather than it be spread out. Like BeNeLux but this time don’t make it 90% one nation.
