Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Well, most of non-soviet SPAA are now IR. That helps

With DIRCM you at least have a layer of defence. You are harder to kill by aircraft and a lot of the new SPAA is negated by it.

True, FnF is the main advantage, but comparing AH-64 vs Mi-28. Neither of which have FnF. I saw way more Mi-28s being used and actually getting kills than AH-64s. This in part because the Vikhrs is actually usable at top tier and Hellfire isnt. But if they are going to continue to deny the existance of FnF weapons such as the AGM-114L or JAGM, then the bear minimum is giving every nation with SAL DIRCM for a minimum layer of defence.

More annoyed at the decision to power creep a SAM like the IRIS-T into the game when all that was needed was a nerf or change to Kh-38…Now any jet without a Mach 2.0 missile just dies to IRIS-T SLMs.

It’s time for ARM then at least Typhoon could get a Fnf missile

no…? of all the new SPAA added last patch only the IRIS-T SLS and SLM are IR only. All of the other ones are Radar and IR guided

for that matter most of the Future SPAA everybody will get will be mostly radar guided or at least primarly radar guided with an option for IR.

Russian helis hunt IRIS-T sams as they are immune during the terminal phase.

Do radar guided SAMs even work against helis? I’ve rarely managed to kill one with an ARH or SARH fired from fixed wing

ARH gonna be useless unless youre directly trying to die…

Yeah the rule has been very inconsistent. Stuff like the Swiss F/A-18C getting the same weapons as the US F/A-18C because of this rule but can’t get BOL from Finish Hornets on other Hornets but then the Rafale can get half its features from Indian Rafales.

No really.
JPN Contrast and ARH, not effective
US ARH and SACLOS, not effective
SWE and FRA both have SACLOS
GER has SACLOS
Russia Contrast and SACLOS
China SACLOS
Israel… haha
Italy… haha
If you only bring a IR only SPAA you deserve to be destroyed

Yeah, or even something simple like Napalm for our Phantoms. Its really annoying this cherry picking or heck. GBU-48s for the Typhoon FGR4.

To be fair currently the Optical Imaging missiles of the Type 81 still get affected by LDIRCM for some reason as if it was some sort of magic visual stealth feature. So those are effectively still “IR” as far as that is concerned.

It’s most likely just Gaijin forgetting that it’s a different guidance type rather than just IRCCM, but it annoys me anytime I use the Type 93 or Type 81 (C)

DIRCM is a joke when you have to hover out of cover for 15 seconds for a AKD-10 to fly 4.5km

They really do just need to decide on one and stick with it. It’s so frustrating with how it’s currently being handled.

Type 81 Optical lock worked for me just fine against DIRCM helis.

Unless that heli was hovering close to the ground, then it was not kicking in, and all i could do was stare at it.

Yeah…

though gaijin hates consistancy

Locking works for me too if I select optical (automatic doesn’t do it because it prioritizes the backup IR for some reason), but then after launch the missiles sometimes decide to fly away from the target as if their control inputs were inverted.

Tbf it seems to require some level of outside modifications. By this logic US F-15E should get the extra CM dispenser on the I

I still hate that this is how Gaijin think Optical Imaging works… It’s not even how photocontrast works

Except it doesnt. They pick and choose. F-4J(UK)s are just ex-US F-4Js. Just mounted with the missiles the RAF used instead of the USN

That doesn’t apply to the AH-64E, they aren’t ex-US army and if some of them are it’s before the LDIRCM was put on
