Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

I am pretty sure the poll was if Northrop won the contract.

Clearly it should be named Yellowstone.

It isn’t, but I said I hoped they won the post before so I guess it was implied

I didn’t say that was wrong, someone else did. I just pointed out that Harrier and Harrier II are basically just an upgrade of the same aircraft. The Navy’s NGAD will not be a slightly rehashed F/A-18, it will be a whole new aircraft. Different logic.

Would work better for a ship name since it’s a place

If Grumman wins it should follow the linage of a cat name. If boeing wins. Who knows maybe it will be Hornet II. Would be weird though.

Planes have been named after places before.

Sure it’s was mostly bombers but doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before.

If Boeing wins there is only one acceptable name, Peashooter II. A bit of reverse psychology to make opponents think it will be crap.

I can already see them calling it the F/A-47 if Boeing gets the contract

Lancaster, Manchester, Halifax, Bolton ect lol

That’s mostly British ones though

I don’t think the 47 is the same aircraft on bid for the F/A-XX.

Just thought of another name boeing could use Phantom III.

Baltimore ?

I have to agree, unless USA has done it before there’s no precedent for naming a new American plane after a place.

1 plane, that didn’t get official govt name (was from company), and also was from 1941

They probably won’t even rehash an existing name, my guess is it will be called the “Donald Trump”.

Even if it was a different plane, I could see them being like “Hey Mr Trump, if you choose our company we’ll name that plane after you as well”

F-47 Trumpcard

Politics aside that name goes hard for a 6th gen air dominance fighter
