Worse radar, less CMs but Magic IIs and Derby
I must be doing something wrong then, because I always end up being a sitting duck.
The lack of speed means most of my AMRAAMs don’t get to the enemy before they get annihilated by my teammates’ missiles and the lack of other weapons and flight performance means that I usually cannot defend myself either.
Personally?
- Gnat/Ajeet at 9.0
- Hawk T1 at 9.3 maybe with SRAAM
- Hawk Mk120 LIFT of the SAAF at 10.7/11.0 (Can easily cosplay as the RAF Mk.128s, RAAF Mk.127s, & Indian Air Force Mk.132s. Though arguably for sim the BAE Mk.132 improved would be the better option, nicer cockpit, with a better HUD) Need some better SAAF representation :P

- Hawk 200 at 11.0 with Skyflash & 9Ls.
The only real issue is not all Hawk’s have CMs, hence me going for the SAAF Hawk 120 as it defiantly has them
You have to play insanely defensively, deliberately staying at the back of the pack and looking for people in bad spots.
Its hard work, but the FA2’s decent climb rate means you can at least get some height behind your missiles. Though I havent played in ARB in it in a a few months. Usually I play it in ASB where I dont have to worry about the full uptiers.
SRAAMs would put it at a guaranteed BR of 9.7
Hoping it oculd be a SRAAM+CM combo and could be a little higher

Sure, in ASB it’s fine, but the FA.2 has literally nothing to offer in ARB and staying behind just causes you to usually not get any kills, because as I mentioned, everyone else gets their missiles to the enemy first

I find it funny slapping F-14s out the sky in it mostly
The thing is the T1/A’s never had CMs, I figure it would give it something over the Gnat (which would be IIRC a better plane kinematicly)
Again, my experience has been that about 95% of my AMRAAMs arrive at their destination way after the target has already been killed by someone else. The FA.2 just doesn’t have the speed to secure any kills
I mean, the Hunter F.6 and Harrier GR.1 don’t carry CMs either. At 9.7 with SRAAMs.
F-14A need countermeasure pods (not BOL) and RIO modeled + radar fixed and AIM-54 fix.

All planes with RIO need to get the RIO modeled. Other than that the F-14A is fine the way it is.
Afaik the AIM-54s are as close to realistic as they can be with how Gaijin models missile flight performances.

Oh and an Omani Hawk 103 would be a nice premium/event, it’s one of the most unique Mk.100s with both the improved RWR & the only model to feature the nose mounted FLIR
Aim-54 with probably never be fixed. Unless the F-14D comes but even then, it would probably just be a whole new missile so the other F-14’s don’t benefit from it

Its those limitations keeping it at 12.7.
Though “RIO” needs to be better modeled on all 2-Seaters. Like the F3.

This just reminded me that i still gotta finish researching the F3.(Been too busy on other games)
F3 is rather solid, F3 Late really needs its Phimat
The radar still has a couple of issues outside of RIO iirc. Could use the CM pods though (less than BOL if I remember right)
