Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Nah, israel, Italy and china need one first.
Then an expansion of Sweden, Japan, France and Italy

Israel and Sweden are in a similar position currently yes. China still has quite a bit more to add. Japan just got a subtree, but even then they have little left. Don’t know enough about Italian/Hungarian AF equipment. France is in a similar boat, but they also just got a subtree

I don’t care what you add next update…Can Britain please have a top tier light tank…
Please Gaijin

The Desert Warrior is terrible at it’s own BR, it’s unplayable when you take it up to higher BRs.
It has everything you wouldn’t want on a light tank IFV

Incredibly slow = Cant flank or get into scouting positions
terrible optics = x2ish main gun zoom and commander optics no thermals and tiny zoom
terrible fire power = 25mm Bushmaster struggles with everything including helis (also doesn’t get the upgraded round the US ones have…) Why is that?
When many nations have rounds they never used “cough” DM63 for the Xm800t!

Tow 2B is still really bad and the A is fine but you expose the whole tank and die before the missile gets there as your role has to be slow support vehicle and not scouting light tank you don’t have the armour to back up your incredible bulk!

It’s just a miserable experience at any BR

isnt it just as fast as the Bradly??? it can hit almost 80km/h in both forward and reverse assuming its the same as the standard warrior

I do agree that we need a better light tank, Ares Overwatch would make a fun TD for top tier, light tank is either the Ajax or the CTA-40 Boxer

Its maxes out at 50kph on reasonable straights, the maps aren’t big enough for it to ever reach it’s top speed and it takes months to get there, it doesn’t turn well

Honestly it’s only saving grace is the stab, But they way you are forced to play. It’s barely better than then 8.3 Warrior

The Japanese still have a lot of things to add. Unfortunately, most of them are on Br. below 9. Fortunately, Thailand offers vehicles above.

I would like the UK to get Star Destroyers in the tree.

Firstly, the accents are British as Lucas modelled it off the Empire (even Tarkin Doctrine steps from the 2-Power Standard) .
Secondly, the ISD is rumoured to be inspired by the British KGV class in accordance with the prior British Empire theme (though it takes a lot from many ship’s i’m just choosing this point because the KGV’s are peak).

Some similarities are the turbolaser batteries and reference to 5.25" ones, KGV’s external belt is reflected in star wars lore on the more heavily armoured ISD’s, the deflector shields high up on the mast similar to the location of the radars on KGV, also notice the bridge is shapes like the upper half of the superstructure and slopes similarly to the KGV’s turret sides all sloping to the Queen Annes mansion.

My prediction new content for second major update

  • 3rd generation targeting pod for 4 american aircraft (rank VII ~ VIII) and 1 belgium fighter aircraft top tier
  • The early laser guided bomb era in vietnam war
  • new RTAF F-16 top tier for japan tech tree
  • The AIM-120 AMRAAM newer AIM-120A & AIM-120B
  • The early subsonic short range air-launch cruise missile
  • The western standard and chinese Surface-to-Air missile top tier (BR 12.3 minimum)
  • The early fire & forgot short range Air-to-Ground missile for american helicopter top tier
  • Upscale Air EC map to 160 km X 160 km or 180 km X 180 km for aircraft rank VII ~ VIII (10.3 ~ 13.0) and 240 km X 240 km for aircraft 13.3 ~ 14.0 & higher (Air AB, RB & SB)

These aren’t tanks. Due to politics and economics, large warships didn’t differ that much between the early 1920s and late 1930s— That is clearly demonstrated by their historical use.
Especially considering the gameplay mechanics.

And the Emirati Pantsir on a MAN truck for Germany, because who needs indigenous vehicles?

I mean no offense by this, but I truly wish your prediction is not true. A 7th air focused update in a row? I understand that air is a major part of this game, and I will admit, me not wanting your prediction to be true is purely selfish on my part as I wish to see more ground vehicles. However, based on what I have read on here (which could be completely misguided) each nation needs better anti air (which you did list) but also most nations need more gaps filled in ground. Ground maps are also abysmal, there are only a handful of maps that don’t have problems with spawn camping (or at least have the ability to counter spawn camping), and engine sounds could use an update as well. I suppose things you predict could still be added, but the problem is, I feel like some of those features would be seen as major in the eyes of Gaijin, therefore decreasing the amount of content in the update. Then again, I could be completely wrong. Sorry for complaining as well.

this would be nice if it was a battle pass or event

I feel like we are gonna get another sub in this update, they said they will be focusing in them this new more than a new nation. With 1 out of 5 updates to go this one is the most likely imho.

The only one that makes sense would be Thailand ground. I doubt they would add a new sub tree before “finishing” the one they added most recently.

EDIT: I don’t think they said they would focus on sub trees in general though. Just that they’d focus on sub trees instead of new nations.

"Q: War Thunder is constantly expanding with new vehicles from other nations, which are implemented into nations already in the game. But are there any plans for separate standalone nations in the future in addition to the 10 already present in the game?

A: Yes, we have plans for separate new nations. But next year, we’ll focus on filling the gaps in existing trees, including adding subtrees of other nations to them, and adding new types of vehicles."

They are defo talking about more than one but I could be wrong but to me seems like they want to fill gaps via subs too.

When do you think they will add XM2000 for U.S.A. a modern SPH with a LRF.
XM2001_Crusader

Doubt any time soon but I would suggest making a suggestion for it on the suggestion page

I think most of this is wishful thinking.

I would be deeply surprised if Gaijin added more advanced ARH missiles to blufor, since those plane and kit combinations are in many cases so overwhelming. Pretty sure the only reason R-77-1 was added is R-77 is so horrid and Gaijin don’t believe R-77-1 is much better than the R-77.

I really don’t think we’re going to get stronger ir missiles either.

I think we’re probably guaranteed to see some 4th gen, maybe 4.5 gen planes, would be nice to have something that can contest Rafales, Typhoons and Eagles.

If we’re very lucky, we might see SPAA, but my feelings suggest we are going to see another de-facto air update. Probably that’s all we’ll get for majors until we reach late 5th gens.

I have no optimism in my thinking here, just seems that’s the way of things now.

The wildcard is that maybe we get infantry this year. I really don’t think that was just April fools.
