Well for example the Rafale could have (and imo should have) come in an earlier standard than the F3 first. Imo it makes no sense that France jumped from Mirages to Rafale F3 without first getting the older standards. That’s like putting a F-15E before the F-15A and F-15C

In which way would it have benefitted France to get a worse Rafale only so they can get a marginally better one later…? 410,000 / 1,100,000 extra RP / SL for… what?

More isn’t always better… specially in a game mode where you only get one spawn anyway.

Near-identical variants in Ground is nice for the lineups, but… for Air? It’s just extra grind for nothing.

To be honest I think there’s more to consider. Sure, the US has more aircraft and should get more per update on average because of it, but that’s not the whole story either.

Gaijin seems to deliberately space out additions for other nations to make less space between individual additions. On paper a good idea, in practice horrible. This way aircraft are pushed back, just so they slot in better between the previous and next additions and we get problems like the F-2 still not being added over two whole years since Gaijin announced, despite the initial variant coming in without active radar missiles for at best 13.3 BR if you’re really pushing it and building on existing compression.
Even the latest variants are now overshadowed by aircraft that were already in game for multiple updates, but somehow they still find excuses to ignore it and add another US top tier while Japan is now one of only 2 nations left completely without 14.0 plane.

It’s not the issue that there’s more US additions, but that there’s somehow dumb excuses not to add other nations aircraft when they need to to have their time in the spotlight while time is spent on three variants of the Hornet for the US in one update.

But I asked which “other aircraft” should be added and the response was, uh… a redundant and slightly worse Rafale variant, and a later Tranche Typhoon which will probably come later with new missiles that are still too strong for the game right now and which therefore makes it appropiate only for the future.

And what other options are left for all these nations? None, really. Specially when they already got several various subtree additions on top of their own planes just to have more options than they would without them.

I agree about F-2 coming too late at this point, but that’s just 1 plane of 1 nation. What about all the rest?

People also tend to forget that Russia is also getting half a million planes per update too, just like U.S, because they also just have more options available. But that’s somehow never a problem, it’s always U.S bad.

We could have 3 lines of Rafale.

We already have the Rafale C, we could have the Rafale B (dual seat) and the Rafale M (navy) on 2 others lines.

And each of thoses 3 family of Rafale could come in different upgrade, the same for each globally: F1.x, F2.x, F3.x F4.x and soon F5.x )

So we have place for 3 lines of Rafale with both early and later upgrades.

The issue becomes the other nations.

Sweden? Still stuck with the Gripen C or the weakest F-18.

Japan? No F-2

China? No J-10B

Even when looking at the 3 Typhoon nations, yes the Typhoon has great potential, but has too many issues to count. But that being said, whilst Germany, Italy, Britain and France dont need a new top tier aircraft, that is no reason for them to go without any new aircraft at any BRs. Its annoying this idea that the US can get a new aircraft every single update without fail “because they built loads of stuff” whilst everyone has just as many outstanding aircraft at a range of BRs, but some updates will go without a single new aircraft (looking at 2023 for Britain, would the Gnat, Hawk, or even several from 2024 like the Buc S2B or Tornado Gr4 have been game breaking if they had come whilst we waited for a new top tier)

That having been said. I do kinda hope we get the Typhoons skipped at the current BRs sooner rather than later and thus allow the current Typhoons to get buffs. I.E, Add the Typhoon F2 with CAPTOR-M, Aim-9M and AMRAAM + limited A2G at 14.0, and move the FGR4 up to 14.3 and give it CAPTOR-E

But why… why?

Sure you can technically add 10 Rafales, but… what for? You are only adding more and more RP to grind through there.

As far as I know, gameplay wise, they would be either identical or nearly identical to the one we got. So what’s the point really? You can only spawn one anyway!

The same why we have multiples F-16s, multiples F-15s, multiples Su 29, multiples Spitfire, multiples Bf109 and so on…

I don’t say we need 10 of them, but surely we can have more than 1.

We have multiple significant upgrades.

There’s a whole world between F-16A and F-16C; new engine, new radar, new IR missile, new radar missile…

There’s a whole world between F-15A and F-15E; new engines, new radar, new IR missile, new radar missile…

But what difference is there between Rafale C F3 and Rafale C F2.2…? Mission planning software? That literally has no impact in War Thunder at all. It would be identical.

Fair, though I’d argue earlier versions should’ve just come earlier, especially for nations with very linear progression compared to the USs 10+ option for each BR step.

They seem redundant now, but getting the earliest version of an aircraft as soon as game balance allows it helps make progression feel a lot more fair. This Mirage → Rafale gap might feel a lot better if it had just been a bit smaller initially.
It’s the same thing I meant with the F-2. Had it come with the Eurofighter/Rafale two updates ago, it’d have a unique at the time AESA radar to make up for shortcomings and at least be a decent (if maybe a bit niche) 14.0 jet, but we’d still have skipped from the initial aircraft all the way to the most modern ARH slinging variant rather than introducing it naturally in at least the two major service variants.

I just used them as an example. Generally US and Russia will get the most additions, maybe with China joining that club now too. It’s not a bad thing by itself, just makes the weirdly spaced additions for others feel worse.

I’m not saying to make up planes or to add more than you can, but those that can be added should be added when they can based on gameplay need and the state of top tier, not some arbitrary idea of content spacing

Rafale B bring visual change, Rafale M could bring carrier gameplay (something that would be nice to be more worked on as we have more and more modern capable jet that use carriers (F-14s, F-18s, some Su, Rafales M…)

So at least 1 of each of thoses 3 family could be nice.

And differents upgrades bring also different weaponry. For example F4.x could bring the 1T variant of the AASM, alongside other stuff.

Earlier variant could remove the AESA radar and bring it more closer with pre-top tier planes.
