Neither the website for AoT, nor the Steam page list WW1 stuff as a selling point though. The focus will be on WW2 and WW1 is more of a bonus as it stands right now.
Don’t get me wrong, im going to download it and give it a go, but i would like to see if they can bring the improvements made in this game over to war thunder from a VR point of view.
I’d prefer sticking to one game, rather than having to spend money again on the same vehicle that i have in WT just to get a better VR experience.
Well, Aces of Thunder is a VR game, WT is a game with VR. Of course AoT will have the better VR experience and Gaijin likely won’t port many of the VR features over.
I hope we get this too. If not maybe a re-run of the event for Remembrance Day with a few more rewards like the aircraft and some of the tanks they have missed.
Mate, I know about the trailer, they still don’t list WW1 in the game descriptions or the main selling points.
Smin has literally been saying that WW1 is a key feature of Aces of Thunder and it’s why we can’t keep the fighters from this event.
In ~6 months when this game fails, they will be rushing to add WWI planes to War Thunder. It will be the funniest thing in the world
The announcement Smin linked talks about WW1 being featured in addition to WW2. As far as Gaijins own advertisement for the game goes, WW2 will be the main focus and WW1 will be a secondary thing.
He never said that. He only ever said that AoT will feature WW1 aircraft and that the current April Fools event lets us obtain 7 WW1 vehicles, the Fokker and the SPAD being unobtainable without a specific reason being mentioned.
You’re spot on VR is definitely still a niche market, and that’s exactly why they should consider reinventing these aspects into War Thunder.
By pulling assets from Enlisted and Aces of Thunder, they could breathe new life into the game and take things to the next level with a more cutting-edge War Thunder 2.0. It feels like the perfect opportunity to really push boundaries, don’t you think?
Enlisted typically sees around 5,000 players online at any given time, while the newly announced Aces of Thunder, being VR-exclusive, will likely attract a similar number.
Compare that to War Thunder’s impressive 120,000 concurrent players it’s clear where the larger audience is.
From a business perspective, it would be a smart move to focus their efforts on War Thunder, as it’s one of their top revenue generators. And just to clarify, this isn’t about bias for the game (even though it’s fantastic), but purely about making sound business decisions.
It simply adds up.
Would rather have korea as a small unique tree than having all of their actually unique vehicles omitted just so they can come to Japan as a sub with as much copy paste as possible.
I’m hopeful for the game, but I know the player count after a few months will drop to the point where Gaijin starts questioning if they should keep it going or not.
I hope the game does well but I also think that stuff like WW1 aircraft shouldn’t be limited to sell a product which main selling point should be the fact that it’s a proper VR experience.
They won’t be rushing to add WW1 to WT. The money lies in modern era stuff, followed by Cold war era stuff and WW2 era stuff. The majority of WT players don’t care about WW1 and from what I’ve heard while playing the event, people are not enjoying the performance of WW1 vehicles at all.
Just because you will, it doesn’t mean that enough others will
Unfortunately you are part of a minority
Yeah they know that it’ll take people about 10 seconds after release to realize how unfun ww1 vehicles would be against interwar/ww2 vehicles.
Then again, people are still coping that ww1 vehicles would get preferential treatment in terms of BR for some reason.
Mate, they keep games like CRSED, Star Conflict and Crossout running. AoT would have to fail entirely for them to drop it.
I believe the real potential lies in War Thunder’s solid and stable customer base. By ironing out the issues in the BR and ranking system, reworking the economy, and fully expanding on nations, they could create something truly incredible.
Add infantry to the mix, integrate the graphical enhancements from Enlisted (like detailed tank interiors), and leverage the VR advancements from Aces of Thunder, and you’d have a money-making powerhouse on your hands. The opportunity to revolutionize the game is right there.
and guess what there is noting out there to touch it!
They have the Monopoly
I would love to see WT player age distribution and how much impact a change from pegi 12 to pegi 16 would have.
Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see this data.
They will keep the games seperated to be able to maintain the lower age rating of WT, keep development simpler, keep the system requirements and the server loads for each game as low as possible and to be able to balance each game seperately.
The more features a single game gets, the more potential you have to break stuff while working on seemingly unrelated things.
They also already cannot be bothered to properly balance WT as it is. Do you really think they would start putting more effort into balance, if the game was way more complex?
They already have one. WT is raking in crazy money without having infantry, better VR or WW1 content.
Why stop, they could get more, the player base is the key and war thunder has that!
