@Smin1080p_WT Hey smin, given this does not specify the event mission, does normal naval RB/AB count towards the progress as well?
If we never get WW1 fighters, I recommend ti you; Rise of Flight. Free to play, Albatros D.Va and a SPAD are free, other planes are very cheap. You won’t be disappointed
Hey. It’s all of them:
Earn 20,000 mission points in Arcade or Realistic Naval Battles or the Battle of Jutland event while using any ships from the list above to receive the “The Glorious Memory: Battle of Jutland” decal!
So… any news on the Modern inf ?
@Smin1080p_WT for example the mark 5 with 2 guns its pretty hard to move between the gun sights so you could aim better with the other side any plans to make it more seamless, like moving your mouse on the left side for example and it would start using that sides gun sight?
It was the perfect april fools joke/distraction, so many people fell for it.
Agree
I do hope we get our own WW1 air update though we a tech tree split like blue-water and coastal.
That way tech tree spacing isn’t an issue.
Yeah the main selling point of Aces of Thunder is VR not WW1 dedicated game. That’s like gate keeping the P-51C-10 because it must come out first to milk the community more to only fly the razorbacks.
Different wording then, will the WWI experience possible achieved with this event and Aces of Thunder eventually lead to proper War Thunder WWI air/ground content?
One of the best parts of War Thunder is having everything in one game, so I really hope it won’t be split forever. The current reserve cutoff seems a bit arbitrary, and many players (including myself) would love to be able to go all the way from the very beginnings of tanks and aircraft to the most modern. This event at least proves that WWI in War Thunder works, so the foundation is there now.
Yeah but with how we are getting the tanks I think the easiest way for now would be just to add the aircraft from this event the same way, then in the future if we get more then we see some reworking of them in the TT’s.
You can bind secondary guns. I’ve got F3 for one side and F4 for another. I just swap between them.
I mean, they could have held the event without the possibility to keep any of the vehicles, so them letting us keep some of them already is pretty generous.
I get that you are disappointed, I would feel the same if I cared as much about WWI as you. To be honest I am surprised that they even let us keep the H.P. 12, but since that one is a bomber Gaijin probably figured that it would be a more viable vehicle in actual gameplay than biplanes that get outperformed by reserve planes.
The fact that they cranked up the tank performance just for this event feels like a rather big indicator that they do not think WWI content would be well received by most players.
And well, this being an April Fools prank really makes it feel like they actually don’t have any intention to introduce proper WWI content to WT.
Yep I mean we got the,
Spad S.XII (modeled in game)
The Came (Reserved for AoT)
H.P.12 (modeled in game)
Fokker D.VII (modeled in game)
Fokker DR.1 (Reserved for AoT)
Zeppelin (modeled in game)
That’s enough for making a CBT style tree and a mode for it
@Smin1080p_WT So what happens if Aces of Thunder flops and crashes ? That’s WW1 content gone wasted on a product that no one will play because guess why, We already have aces of thunder it’s called Sim battles !
Where’d they do that? At least for speed and armor it seems accurate, while armament has always just been Gaijin’s calculations rather than actual sources.
There, from the news post
Ah, so the event uses arcade mobility. Guess I’ll have to test the reward vehicles in RB too.
Still, I don’t think being slower is much of an issue if at the ranks where WWI could be added everything else would be slow too. Same way how 40kph medium tanks are decent at lower tiers, while at top tier anything below 70kph is considered slow.
I even wonder why they did this for the event, where it’s really easy to decrease player count per game and make the map a bit smaller to work with realistic speeds. They probably just don’t trust player attention spans…
Aces of Thunder will be pretty different from sim no? You can actually manipulate the switches and stuff with your hands on VR iirc, so it would be like historical VTOL VR

Yeah, I think Aces of Thunder absolutely has a right to exist, but it shouldn’t really block War Thunder from WWI if they could add it to both.
I’d even argue there’s already WWI flight sims to compete with Aces of Thunder, while War Thunder still has no proper competition and adding WWI could make it even more difficult for future competition to get a chance.
