There’s a whole world between F-16A and F-16C; new engine, new radar, new IR missile, new radar missile…
There’s a whole world between F-15A and F-15E; new engines, new radar, new IR missile, new radar missile…
But what difference is there between Rafale C F3 and Rafale C F2.2…? Mission planning software? That literally has no impact in War Thunder at all. It would be identical.
Fair, though I’d argue earlier versions should’ve just come earlier, especially for nations with very linear progression compared to the USs 10+ option for each BR step.
They seem redundant now, but getting the earliest version of an aircraft as soon as game balance allows it helps make progression feel a lot more fair. This Mirage → Rafale gap might feel a lot better if it had just been a bit smaller initially.
It’s the same thing I meant with the F-2. Had it come with the Eurofighter/Rafale two updates ago, it’d have a unique at the time AESA radar to make up for shortcomings and at least be a decent (if maybe a bit niche) 14.0 jet, but we’d still have skipped from the initial aircraft all the way to the most modern ARH slinging variant rather than introducing it naturally in at least the two major service variants.
I just used them as an example. Generally US and Russia will get the most additions, maybe with China joining that club now too. It’s not a bad thing by itself, just makes the weirdly spaced additions for others feel worse.
I’m not saying to make up planes or to add more than you can, but those that can be added should be added when they can based on gameplay need and the state of top tier, not some arbitrary idea of content spacing
Rafale B bring visual change, Rafale M could bring carrier gameplay (something that would be nice to be more worked on as we have more and more modern capable jet that use carriers (F-14s, F-18s, some Su, Rafales M…)
So at least 1 of each of thoses 3 family could be nice.
And differents upgrades bring also different weaponry. For example F4.x could bring the 1T variant of the AASM, alongside other stuff.
Earlier variant could remove the AESA radar and bring it more closer with pre-top tier planes.
When Gaijin implements a good variant right away, the complaint is that “why did they not add weaker variants before so that now they would have more?”
But when Gaijin implements a worse variant first, the complaint is that “why the weaker variant instead of a better one right away?”
Visual change is worthless and has no impact on the game… 400,000 extra RP to grind for that?
Rafale M, I am sure it will eventually come to another line, but I can’t see “carrier gameplay” being a selling point… but it will surely come just because it belongs.
That’s 100% happening- the same way future EFs will likely bring Meteors, etc- but it’s still too early for all of this, so I don’t know how it can be part of the complaints.
In general, I don’t get what’s the angle here exactly. People always complain about not getting the best variants as fast as possible… but when they do, they then complain about not having got several slightly worse variants before just so that “they would have more content”…
and this is just considering top tier. I seriously doubt multiple natiions have absolutely no new aircraft or meaningful aircraft variants left to add between BR1 and BR13.7
They definitely should add earlier variants of the Eurofighter and the Rafale.
They also should add multiple variants of the F-2 over time.
As long as the differences between variants are enough to warrant a different BR (even if it’s just a different ground BR) I don’t see why the variants shouldn’t be added to the tech trees.
In the Typhoons case, there isnt a huge amount right now, only really CAPTOR-E. But that could very soon include later AMRAAM variants and its inplace and ready to move up if the Typhoon F2 is there to fill the current role.
Exactly, and so can EF. But the game is not ready for those missiles yet.
See, this is what I am talking about.
EF and Rafale users are somehow complaining that “they have worse planes that U.S”… when they have planes that are SO GOOD that they need to be held back with worse armament than they really can use. So I really can’t see what the problem is here.
Later EF and Rafale variants are 100% being saved to come with upgraded armament for when 5th gen fighters start coming for U.S and Russia.
For me i simply wish to have the 3 main family of the Rafale, they all have their little tastes, even if it’s just visually, and all could come as earlier variant, same variant, or advanced variant vs the one we already have.
Don’t see the problem to add more of them, sure not 10, but at least 1 or 2 of each.
Then perhaps the F5 alongside drone operation as it seems to be one of the focus of it’s development (alongside more than 20% of engine trust) but i guess it’s too soon to talk about that
…and if Gaijin had added Rafale F1 first, then people would be raging that “they got a bad variant when they should have added a better one instead”, just like it happened with the Finnish F-18.
Have you not seen the extreme rage there’s been over the Finnish F-18?
Same thing happened when Sweden got JAS-39A. Absolute rage. They demanded to get JAS-39C directly.
People saying that “Gaijin hates (X) nation because they added “dead on arrival” planes instead of the better ones”, and claiming that “such planes are only speed bumps getting in the way of future additions”…
But now suddenly the problem is that we aren’t getting enough worse earlier variants and that we are getting better ones right away?
If Gaijin adds more earlier variants, Gaijin bad.
If Gaijin skips redundant variants, Gaijin bad.
Apparently there always needs to be some sort of problem with Gaijin no matter what they do. And this coming from me is a lot.
Yeah, fair. I still think it is weird that they went straight to the FGR.4 and the Tranche 2 Block 10 (well, would have to be Block 15, but Gaijin loves fantasy configurations), but I guess the CAS arms-race had to continue…
My issue with gaijin is their progression logic…like why did they add Hornets last update and not waaay before…why havent they added a single varient of F-2 before or alongside the AESA capable Rafale…and so on…like i still remember the jump from F-100 and Mig-21 to T-2 in one update…
As for content quantity personally i don’t care if X nation gets multiple additions thats fine…my issue is when you have other nations in need of additions but are completely left out or said additions are added waaay to late coughF-2cough
That happened because Gaijin also added the Gripen C to Britain and later on even to Italy, while giving Sweden a fantasy Gripen A.
There wouldn’t have been problems if either Sweden got the Gripen A and nobody else got the Gripen or if everyone got the Gripen C from the start, even if it had to be in a nerfed state.
Same goes for the Finnish F-18C. Why give one nation a worse version if both the US and Sweden could get basically the same version?
I didn’t see people complain about the F-18C… And tbh we shouldn’t pay attention to these people, it makes absolutely no sense to hurry to add modern stuff before we’re done with the old stuff, and it’s a good part of the balance problems that the game is currently facing. There would be much less balance issues if the Rafale F3 had not been thrown prematurely into the game
The F1 belonged way better
Yes, and I found the JAS-39A and Finnish F-18C complaints reasonable; just like I found perfectly reasonable that U.S players got angry when, initially, their F-15E was significantly worse than Israel’s…
Yet I kept seeing hate against U.S players for this, calling them “entitled”, “spoiled”, “brats”, and when Gaijin gave them the same engines, saying that “crybabies got what they wanted”.
This is what I mean. There’s an unreasonable targeting against the U.S tree and its players that is just unfair. Every time I set foot on the Forums, on any thread, there’s always something going on against the U.S, it’s just tiring.
I came in to this thread today, and the first thing I came across was complaints that nations with less options weren’t gettng as many vehicles as the U.S.
That’s what happen when Gaijin favor a nation for long years, and suddently they give them the same treatment other have got for years, when you see thoses people complaining (when they always mocked the other to complain) because they just start to feel what it is to not be the most gifted one, sure it don’t help to feel sad for them.
