Yus
Yeah got an ace game with it earlier
A7V vs FCM is truly a battle of the century lmao
I played a more arcade style one on the PlayStation 2 like 18 years ago called “red baron” It was developed by davilex who made the brilliant “london racer” games back in the day
looking back man it was primative but it was the first flight game I played
the second one was also a ww1 game oddly enough. Wings of honor battles of the red baron. was a pretty good flight game for 2006
Yes, I’ve got Mark V and A7V
I made a post on the RB section of the forums advocating for top tier Air RB BR decompression
Please feel free to take a look and leave suggestions and constructive feedback :)
For those curious, this is a game limitation. In order to use vehicles together, they have to be of the same nation, hence why the event versions of the Triple Entente vehicles are all under Britain internally, with the statcard flags switched out.
Spoiler
This is why they had British crew voices in the event, which will be fixed with in 2.45.1.33.
This is also why there is an American Super Mystère B2 and AMX 13 in the files, as when the first WWM involving Israel happened, it wasn’t yet part of the game, so the USA served as a stand-in with changed statcard flags.
We got our infantry with the event. Now will AI infantry come to regular gameplay? Maybe. Probably depends on the results of the AF event.
But if you are expecting an FPS gameplay I am sorry to disappoint you but it isn’t coming.
Yes.
I got A7V and St Chamond 😇
That trailer and the announcement was posted on the 31st of March, but they put April 1st as the date on the announcement.
I am fairly certain that this was done intentionally and that the trailer was a prank. However the trailer could also be for a second April Fools event component, as the WWI event is significantly shorter than the previous years’ April Fools events.
My thoughts (warning: many words)
That secondary event won’t be a test for player controlled infantry either, just for more AI infantry. Likely the infantry in that event will actually be a threat to tanks instead of just being decorations at best.
The infantry in the WWI event probably is a test to see if the servers and the player clients could handle large amounts of AI running around and doing stuff at all and since that seems to work just fine after some initial hiccups, a second event could happen as a proper stress test with more involved AI infantry.
If Gaijin really had plans of introducing player controlled infantry, the Mobile Infantry event likely was a test for that already. As you might guess, if sci-fi soldiers can’t really deal with tanks, regular soldiers wouldn’t even be remotely viable for the game.
You’ve got to keep in mind that Enlisted, Battlefield, Battlebit and whatever other Battlefield-like shooters are out there are made specifically with infantry in mind and the vehicles get a secondary role. War Thunder is the opposite of that, the gameplay is entirely focussed on vehicular combat, every aspect of WT revolves around vehicles and their interactions with other vehicles. Physics, game mechanics, game modes, maps, damage models, etc all are designed around vehicles.
Adding vehicles to a previously infantry-only game is, relatively speaking, a rather simple task, but shoe-horning FPS/TPS infantry into a game that was designed as a vehicular combat “simulator” would be a herculean task.
You need an isolated game mode that severely limits the main component of the game (the vehicles), you need special, entirely new maps with vastly more complex geometry (buildings with actual interiors), new control schemes, physics and game mechanics, a different matchmaker, hundreds, maybe thousands, of new models (soldiers, weapons, doodads, etc, even if everything from Enlisted was ported over), new sounds and hearing mechanics, new customization methods, etc, etc… All of that to create a wannabe Battlefield game within a game that people play for the vehicles.
I couldn’t wager how many paying players they would need to get into WT to break even with the investment, but I don’t think the entire Enlisted community and then some would be enough… And as I’ve said before, if other factors don’t bump WTs age rating up, playable infantry definitely will, meaning Gaijin would be have a much harder time marketing the game and (if that isn’t already the case) content creators would get hit with age restrictions as well.
Enlisted isn’t at risk of getting shut down at all, Gaijin keeps way less profitable games running and other game companies do the same. So far the only free to play games I’ve seen being shut down were either EA (greed incarnate) games (Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free, Need for Speed World, Warhammer Age of Reckoning), games that were run/developed by companies that went bankrupt, defunct or dissolved or browser based games.
Most companies (especially ones that focus on the games-as-a-service principle) are willing to keep their less popular games running for a very long time. They just slow down active development up to the point where they only do the bare minimum to keep the game playable at minimum cost.
Dude that’s so awesome. I’m glad I helped you! I think I have a spare disc laying around if your pc has a disc drive I can surely send it your way!
I played a similar game as well. Back in the day we had these PC magazines which would always have a disc with demos or full games on them and one of them had red baron 3 that was one of my first games I played on our shitty laptop. My dad then later bought me wings of war. Great memories
The other tank game did a similar thing with a trailer of the Landkreuzer P.1000 Ratte, many many years ago
Wait, I haven’t heard of that. Why not?
I believe the main reason was that the Leclerc prototypes wouldn’t really differ from the first production Leclercs.
As far as I understand the history of the Leclerc, they already had most things they wanted in their new MBT figured out and when the Leclerc project started they built 6 prototypes and after a relatively short testing period already started the first production series without changing much at all. (I know, it’s weird for Gaijin themselves to argue against what is essentially copy paste with extra steps, but you know how they are sometimes)
I don’t think I’ve seen an official statement on the matter, however at the time I’ve read about the apparent reluctance, all of the Leclercs were still at the top BR (edit: oh well, they still are) and Gaijin doesn’t add top BR premiums.
By now their stance on Leclerc prototypes could definitely have changed and there is at least one French MBT testbed that served as the basis for the Leclerc project that definitely differs from the Leclercs in significant ways, the MSC (Mulet Système Complet).
Thing is warthunder has something enlisted doesn’t have
Alot of invested players
And I agree Warthunder has a vehicle sim would be hard to Convert into a fps but enlisted comes with most of the work all already done and given its pretty much the same engine the difference wouldn’t be to Hard
And Warthunder would get a large amount of new stuff to research
Converting maps would be a challenge but we know from the mech infantry event warthunder maps aren’t Static Objekts and alot of infantry(optimisations) could have been done behind the scenes
(Like adding Interiors stairs and remove rubble)
Also given we have so many maps we don’t need to convert everything at once/ just temporarily remove the most non infantry maps
Ps i am pretty sure the fully destructible Poland map is still around same were(the map with the small town with a lake between the c and b Point)
Also just toss it in and see what sticks is Always an Option
I remember them saying that they would rather put the prototypes in the TT and that any “production” Leclerc would not be premium because the base S1 is already at top BR so any upgrade over it could not realistically be placed at 11.7
I think it was smin who said something like that at some point, but i could be wrong
Also, considering the MSC only has steel armor, i don’t think it would make the cut to 11.7 or even 11.3 tbh
You get a decent gun with the 5s autoloader, but you would be limited to the OFL-120-F1 and you’d
have abysmal levels of armor
As I’ve said before, the amount of players Enlisted is fetching on Steam on a daily basis is definitely not bad. Enlisted is one of those games that aren’t for everyone. War Thunder players that want to play Enlisted most likely already do play Enlisted.
I just can’t see the player count of WT increasing by more than the amount of Enlisted players that don’t play WT, which likely isn’t many.
Just because two games use the same engine doesn’t mean merging them would be easy. Software and game development isn’t as simple as you might think. Porting models from one game to another is one thing, but porting mechanics and functions is another beast entirely.
There is no way for us to tell how compatible War Thunder and Enlisteds code would be.
I don’t remember maps being changed for the Mobile Infantry event. Of course, I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain that the “interiors” that you could enter with the exoskeleton soldiers were already present before. Even without infantry and complex map destruction, there still are reasons to model parts of interiors that would be visible from outside.
You are right though, maps aren’t static, Gaijin does change maps every now and then, usually making them worse in the process.
If it is, then it is extremely outdated by now.
It sure is, but the more work, time and money is involved, the more people tend to compare the potential risks to the potential gains first.
Now, this is just my opinion, but I don’t think there is enough to gain in such an endeavour for it to be worth the effort and to outweigh the risks.
At the end of the day we all can just take guesses though.
