I think that’s why they chose this path. Every other option for the USSR is either too far away, never fully adopted, or both

Infact, gaijin modeled SU-25T and SU-39’s Khod thermal pod, but somehow they diceded to hide it.
For real top CAS, SU-24M2 as a better MIG-27K, and give SMT it’s T-220 pod is a better choice.
Using a slow and heavy plane throwing advanced missiles is not that good, now even 2.

The SWIP’s purpose wasn’t just ARMs, and there are plenty of planes already in-game that could carry them but lack them as of right now

I was never sure why they chose this path, but they did, and also worth noting that it would only be Gen 1
They already have SPAA equivalent to Pantsir.
We need SPAA for all ten tech trees that exceed ITO-90M, Pantsir, and TOR-M1.
Also, Su-25 dies to existing SPAA as-is. It’s a slower Harrier.

ITO-90 is good enough, better than Pantsir in 8km, and Pantsir’s ability to shoot far away is based on enemy pilot watching smart phone. though all spaa is not good enough now, F-16C and other top CAS can easily throw guided bombs or missiles in 10+km, and you have no way to get them.
For smt, 2 kh-29 just not that enough

Thanks for making words bold, wouldn’t know what you were talking about otherwise lol. The Russian federations choice is probably motivated by cost more than anything. In war thunder, a Su-25 with the same optics has a much better carrying capacity, and even a MAWS system with full coverage. It’s simply the better option for high tier, especially if they give it the Kh-25MTP. They 130 can come later as a lower br plane with thermals and smaller payload
