Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Nah im assuming it be like how they are IRL where you control it form its POV

Missiles with such feature used to be a thing and this got removed, I highly doubt they will add it that way.

I think what Shay says is very possible because Gaijin, understandably, makes development shortcuts here and there but ideally it should be like IRL where it’s basically a POV drone. Too bad it’s far for me to grind but I would really like it POV style.

If they add it to the Jag, Mirage III and F1 then it increases the chance of them putting in the effort and making it like the IRL version. Loosely hoping the Indian jag will have them too because I’m a bit far from the Bucc’s in the UK tree.

It was removed because people would First person fly any MCLOS missile using the track bomb/missile key in game. Thats not how they are supposed to be used IRL hence the removal.
This one is designed to be used like that so, if they considered it worthwhile to assign the development time, I’m sure Gaijin would like to see it work the way it really did.

Not only that, missile physics was still pretty basic back then and people were using them landed on the runway.

Yeah it is how they should work IRL

But IRL missile is too powerful, which is proven in 4.1 game mode bug years ago, many missiles already have IRL ability, but gaijin blocked this ability to make them work like normal F&F missiles.

What you on about these missiles ain’t TV guided

May of been too powerful then we will see now

QN502 is a IRL missile using Thermal Imaging, Kh-29TE is also IRL.

That is not what the Martels is. It is a datalinked camera back to the host aircraft.

Like a downgraded modern IRL missile? must be controlled by pilot, and no lock ability

Yes. Controlled by a person. That’s why the TV version was only integrated onto 2+ person aircraft. But it is still automated. If you set the reticle over an SPAA and it doesn’t move it will hit without human help

That parts not really a requirement though, some 1-seaters have that kind of TV missile.

I still think that will cause some “over powered” problem though.
Remind me the old AGM-12, controlled in first view by pressing U, and kill anyone kilometers away.

That was because people we’re essentially exploiting the track munitions feature and thus essentially making it too powerful for it’s BR.
This weapon is supposed to be used as such and would get a Br assigned appropriately.

It will be like a lot of post 10.0 CAS, but slinging Martels from orbit instead of Laser Guided Bombs.

Perhaps teaser today, but i have a feeling its going to be next week.

If the Chinese leaker is right, then yeah, today (tomorrow for us in upside-down land).

Very few though, all the aircraft in the RAF that used the TV version of the Martels were 2 seaters. Only AR Martels were used by single seaters like the Jaguar

Sounds more of a RAF doctrinal choice than anything, the actual workload increase was never a problem for pilots.

Planes like the A-7E and SU-17M4 off the top of my head for example, likely others. Though those do have automatic terminal guidance, they still use a datalink pod for manually guiding the initial phase.
