ztz96a , A-5C, first research project Z-9W for spaa duty, at a later date maybe WMA301 to strengthen the line up even further
imagine fixed AHEAD ammo with Skyranger 30
Added armor would only work only against some HEAT threats while also slowing down the tank significantly in comparison to basic 2A6. It’s true that urret armor is much better on 2A6 than any in-game Challenger 2, especially when considering 1-shot weakspots present on Challengers. We can only hope for future fix
3rd gen thermals are nice but it’s not much of a jump from standard 2nd gen thermals on Challenger 2s.
Better penetration would obviously be very welcome but it’s still something already present on Challenger 2 ATD.
Imo 2A6M CAN would serve more as gameplay alternative than end of the line tank for UK
There’s such a thing as not being an absolute knob gobbler. You should try it some time.
and it is technically a better vickers mk 7
You asked, we answered. What you think about it is irrelevant.
True but in general does that mean that the "CAN’ isn’t part of some weird naming scheme where a set of letters is in the name of all exported leopards?
Or does everyone who uses Leopards just slap a set of letters related to their nation independently to each other? As I thought the letter naming scheme came from everyone asking for their own mods for their leopards.
yeah this, 2E Spain, 2Hel Greek (essentialy the same) 2a7Q(QAT) qatar, (2SG Singapre, 2 PL both revolution kit) and it goes on and on like that
Often the changes are very minor like other smoke launchers
That’s right. They received some Canadian equipment as well as German modifications used specifically in Canadian 2A6M CAN.
Upgrades:
Significant modifications include the mine protection belly armour added thus giving the tank the “M” designation, distinctive tan coloured boxes mounted on the rear of the turret, contains Canadian Forces designated communications and anti IED (improvised explosive device) jamming gear which includes the “T” antenna stands, and stand-off slat armour.
The front upper hull received an armoured plate by the drivers hatch. The first tanks configured in this variant were the twenty tanks loaned from the German Bundeswehr, in an effort to increase firepower and to increase protection given to Canadian troops operating in the south of Afghanistan.
Another feature of these tanks been fitted with a cooling unit with cooling suits for the crew , and the Saab Barracuda camouflage mats which also serve to reduce solar loading by 50 percent. This system was added to the deployed Leopards in 2009. These Leopards served right up to July 2011.
The one thing i remember about them is how they are the only one to have the adjustable sight in squad(which is rather unpopular too)
Still nope, upper plate upgrade (downgrade).
wdym?
Sound nice, only though there was one Variant of the f-20, thanks for enlightening me with more. If you have time, would love it if you made a good detailed post about it in the machinery-of-war discussion section. would love to read that. Really don’t hope that they only make it as an event, would love it in the normal tree.
the upper plate of the 2A6M still uses B tech meanwhile standard for leopards today its using D tech
so in game no difference due to D tech not being modelled
So same as in-game 2A6
D tech its modeled in the base armor turret for leopards and probably will be modeled for the 2A7V hull too since a bug report was made to fix that issue
yes pretty much
Is it just me or does that look like the type 10…
The plate is mostly identical to the one found on the 2A7V, if you had paid attention to the 2A7V thread & the dozens of bug reports, you’d know that this plate actually prevents APFSDS from ricocheting, meaning it takes away the only way the upper hull can protect itself from badly aimed shots, and turns them into penetrations.
