the 96 meteors from god as soon as your wheels leave the ground:
Don’t get me wrong, meteor is cool, but when the R-37 is going Mach 6, it’s gonna catch people off guard with how quickly that missile closes the gao. Probably it’s biggest advantage tbh
R-27ER already goes over mach 5 so the difference isn’t going to be particularly extreme
Tank event reward was announced a week before the event.
New event cycle says there will be a few days of room between events.
Current event over on Mon Feb 19th.
So what do we expect?
Maybe it starts again on Thursday? This case the 22nd with the air reward blog dropping the day after tomorrow on the 15th?
at high alt only
Well only if you look at the base number. The real gift of the R-37 is that it can fly fast for a much longer time. Think of a Phoenix missile if it was actually good. On paper they look close but in practice the R-37 is effectively much faster than an ER
All I’m saying is that in the event we can’t mention by name, we’ve seen R-37M kills over about 300km away, the official range of the R-37M isn’t officially known beyond being capable of hitting targets over 250km away. Does that not give it a 50km advantage over the Meteor? And it’s moving at Mach 6 vs Mach 4…
I guess we can get into the finer points of radar range and RCS, but that’s all quite hypothetical…
Those ranges cannot be reached in War Thunder, so unless the maps change, they’ll effectively have the same range.
Doesn’t the R-37M only achieve that range by lofting like a “ballistic missile”? And it can’t really manoeuvre itself that well up there?
Right. But we also see changes in the game all the time. Case and point, the new target pod detection and lock range… That kind of scale is still way out, but I can speak personally in saying I’ve had a few 60km 27ER splashes, and I didn’t even have a rendered plane until right before intercept.
Just my 2 cents.
Even EC maps aren’t nearly big enough for those missiles, and they’ve been in the game for years, so changes to the maps don’t happen on large enough a scale to affect it.
Giving beyond visual range new meaning 😂
English please
absolute max range is a completely different statistic to NEZ, R-37M lacks a ramjet engine so it absolutely has a smaller NEZ
devblog?
@gszabi99_HUN you said linear regression has it’s limits. This opensource tool by Meta is kinda like polynomal regression but optimised for year on year trends. I worked with it a couple years ago for a data project, took a while to get working but I interfaced with it via the command line. Not saying you need to do more work or there needs to be better accuracy but just putting it out there incase you like geeking out on this stuff like I do.
Friday or next week by bet
That’s what it’s looking like. The first blog generally tends to be something more uninteresting to the general player base (Air Superiority and Apex Predators were exceptions to this), so maybe it’ll be a tier 5 or 6 British, French, or Chinese light vehicle.
