Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

if it has gnss like GBU-39, you should be able to bind ‘drop bomb’ to same key that sets POI on map, you can lob them behind cover at diff points and they should lock on with their seekers once in range to the point

It’s because Gaijin for some reason modeled it as only using one charge when it should have two charges, same as the main shell.

that’s why then, so silly

They really have some funny designs, manpads, atgm and 14,5mm what else could you ask

Except it doesn’t work like that, otherwise i can dumb fire SPICE 250s. If it has IR + IOG + GNSS, the IR takes priority and requires a hard lock before dropping. Point lock wont cut it.

Unless Gaijin changes that logic, it wont matter if it has GNSS as long as the IR part exists.

Seem stupid IRL but also the best design in WT

Because it is stupid IRL lol. Who would come out of the tank while engaging with enemy fire just to shoot at an aerial target with a manpads? You usually do either or and if the crew is already inside the vehicle, chances are they’re not going to come out just to engage aerial. It’s why dedicated manpads SAM and infantry exist to diverse the role.

I hope GBU-53 are supersonic capable like the GBU-39

cas will have a hard time against korean teams in WT

Oh yeah I forgot you can’t do that with Spice250’s.

I’m getting caught up in semantics, did you mean GNSS drop won’t cut it, because IR/point lock takes priority? All Mavericks/etc. can be fired in “point mode” and will lock on if target’s within FOV once within IR lock range.

Second question, how do you drop GBU-39’s from map view? lol I was looking at the controls and I can’t find keybind for “set point of interest on map”.

yep they sure love the iglas and the kpv

When I say point lock I meant using map’s point lock to dumb fire, otherwise I can just lob SPICE bombs from behind terrain which you cant do now

Middle mouse button is the default on PC, unsure what it is called.

Is debatable, it might be handy IRL when you facing enemy armoured convoy with heli support. But the problem is how often you will faced this kind of situation. Also it seem like the missile can be controlled inside the vehicle, but anyway if it added to WT it will become the most OP vehicle in the game

jack of all trades tank

In game it will be OP yes cuz the missiles will be “magically remotely controlled”, but idk if IRL those are controlled inside the vehicle cuz it requires wiring and the controls AND a display in order to use it inside the tank, and judging by the lack of any cameras on the missiles and also the small cramp space inside a T-55 clone, probably has to be manual.

hey TheZillaThunder

Ground only mfs be like: Another CAS buff with Man-in-the-loop systems coming to War Thunder as if they don’t even know there’s a Pantsir in the game that’ll just intercept everything

That’s why the F-15E/I is my lord and saviour, you can lob GBU-39 across the map while hiding behind terrain flying low, then while those bombs are distracting the Pantsirs, you go around and come up from the side to jump them.

Too late! Mach 0.1 weapon release speed 3 grams explosive mass and 1000m of GNSS error range

Then the game chat genuinely just becomes:

Pantsir SM SV → Y95A6-M → GBU-39
Pantsir SM SV → Y95A6-M → GBU-39
Pantsir SM SV → Y95A6-M → GBU-39
