USA

It’s the USMC one

During the Persian Gulf War,the USMC was the one having M60 Pattons.

The Army all switched to the Abrams and in 1990 had a mixture of mostly M1A1s with a minority of M1IPs and a bunch of basic M1s. The USMC was interested into switching from the Patton to the Abrams and they successfully trialed and trained personnel on their own version, the M1A1 HC (which itself is a variation of the M1A1 HA),but when Desert Shield began the USMC still didn’t have a single Abrams in their inventory so they were forced to use their Patton fleet for one last time, which was composed of mainly M60A3 TTS and a little bunch of M60A1 RISE (P). In reality, some USMC units received M1A1s that the Army “leased” to them since some crew already were trained into using the Abrams, but it’s unclear how many of those were borrowed.

Interestingly, the M900 round was used in this war by the M1IP and the M1 as a saving grace considering the M774 and M833 were deemed obsolete (this was proven false right after the end of the war) and there’s always been speculation of the Pattons also using the M900. However, the main problem with this is that the M68 gun operates at a slightly lower pressure than the M68A1 you find on the early Abrams variant, and thus the M900 was never tested to be used on a gun able to withstand lower pressures. But both the M60A1 RISE (P) and the TTS in USMC service used the M774 during the Persian Gulf War

i wonder if there’s a chance to get the M1A1 that was sent to pakistani tank trials, in the china tree… this is how the Oplot-M was added sooo

my favorite prop plane is a premium, my favorite tank will never come probably, about to see my favorite ship (tirpitz) as premium too :')

yeah I saw you texting yesterday night and chuckled for a second because of the reference lol

Broke free of the game’s boundaries…

Nah they loved their Pattons till the end, they were good in an environment full of sand but the tank was clearly obsolete by the time they were deployed in 1990

There was also a single unit under the USAF that operated M60A1 AOS but with the Blazer ERA,meaning they were technically called “M60A1 (AOS)(P)” and they used it basically for guard duty and mine clearing (a job in which the ERA becomes handy)during the Gulf War

Don’t remember the unit tho,it was a super obscure piece of lore.

Why are the U.S. Marines deployed all over the world and participate in multiple wars, yet their weapons and equipment are relatively outdated, even though their combat frequency is very high?
