Im trying to understand why being able to fire these weapons:
at a target point from very long range, and then picking a target for them to home in on via the MITL mechanic is fine.
But Brimstones getting a weaker version of it, would be so unbelievable OP that it wont be added any time soon, if ever?

We explicitly said this was due to Starstreak needing a rework of its physics to make it work in the radar screen mode.
It has nothing to do with the Pantsir. Adding a Russian SAM doesnt magically rework the physics of a British dart.
Two entirely different things. It seems like at this point, we are raging for the sake of it if we are going to just make things up.
Easily added though, just like how all smoke blocks all TVDs, they could easily make all smoke block all MMW. Not even that far off accurate.
and quite frankly. we need a counter for the Pantsir SM-SV

lol even the Pantsir will struggle against 16 brimstones all flying in from different directions and going for different targets.
It can only really spam delete if targets are flying straight in line, like GBU-39 spam for example
