The Astra is said to have a max speed of Mach 4.5, but yeah, the acceleration would definitely matter
I wouldn’t compare it to the AIM-120C5 tho, as I don’t think the Tejas would be a good BVR platform and the AIM-120C5 is best used in BVR rather than WVR. I’d compare the Astra to the AIM-120A/B and the Derby instead

Well for one thing both of these aircraft are in Britain a nation that never fielded these types but also it’s two aircraft that meant to be polar opposites are now in the same line up.

Man, the UK air tree will be so curse in the future, that’s why I’m doubting about what buy first, if the F-2 for Japan or the CF (the Bison it’s a mandatory buy for me this year) lol
Since I got the F-2 via Christmas I don’t need it this time but the Hawk is calling me since I want to challenge myself to only grinding sub tree stuff with sub tree tech so the Hawk would be alright for that when Indonisia comes lol

Isnt South African though and sadly vehicles I aint to fussed on. I do hope gaijin look into making those for the sub nations too where reasonable (and given South Africa is the first sub nation tree IIRC, having 1 for them would be neat, a Ratel 90, Ratel 20, and either G6 or a new Ratel twin 23mm SPAA would be pretty neat)

In theory it could carry 8 missiles, but there seem to be no images of the Tejas carrying 8 missiles (the in-board pylons seemingly never carry missiles, despite documentation claiming them to be capable of carrying and firing AAMs)
If only missiles that already are in the game are options, the Tejas would be limited to a 2 R-73 + 2 Derby loadout
If we include ASRAAMs, the max missile loadout would be 4 ASRAAMs + 2 Astras/Derbys
Personally, if I had to choose, I would go with the Hornet as I really don’t enjoy the Bisons flight performance
But honestly, I wouldn’t buy either of those planes
