The Al Khalid has pretty much no armor and is a lolpen pretty much everywhere, so how much of a disadvantage are the things you mention anyway when you compare the 96B to the Al Khalid?
their armored area is similar. 96B has better protection in protected area, but worse in LPF, can be pen by 30mm apfsds
