They said they would give top tier air a boost using AIM-120D, not specifically the aircraft providing the boost.
And also now other aircraft are being considered to get AIM-120D this update which makes it more apparent that they were specifically saying the missile would provide the boost.
F-16C PoBIT with AIM-120D would still do the opposite though. It’s barely 14.3 worthy. They already tried to move the F/A-18E up to 14.7 and decided against it, possibly due to backlash, an F-16C PoBIT might fare even worse at 14.3-14.7 than that thing (as much as I hate to say it as a Hornet hater and F-16 lover).
If they really want to help top tier US, the F-16 aint it. I refuse to believe that the people in charge of balance are ignorant enough to think otheriwse.
I don’t play enough top tier CAS to know for sure, but wouldn’t you want to drop the Mavericks so you can take ARHs with BOL pods?
Limiting yourself to just 80 CMs and only 2 Sidewinders seems a bit counterproductive, even in a CAS loadout
It really depends on how the battle is going. Normally I’d also rather have the ARH missiles instead of the mavs, but if you are sure that there won’t be any air up you can get away with taking the mavs.
This kind of trade-off probably won’t matter when people start comparing the Gripens A2G loadout to a potential F-15 or F/A-18 with GBU-53s, as people usually just look at the two numbers and nothing else lol
