Well another option just opened for Britain. Since the Australian 18A was leaked to go to Britain, they could always do the funny and add a certian “Super” plane that Australia uses.
Besides that, AESA EFTs would be hilariously strong compared to anything else at the moment. I hope we don’t go there yet for a while.
Yeah, but that still leaves Germany and Italy. I dont think i’ve thought of or seen a single AESA option for them besides CAPTOR-E (and also the Gripen E will have a fairly similar AESA when its added)
It would be really unfair to leave the FGR4 with CAPTOR-M just because we got an F-18 with AESA whilst the German and Italian Typhoons, at the same BR got AESA.
True, which is why I hope we don’t get AESA EFTs for a while yet. They would just become so much better than everything else besides the Rafale. The Rafale + EFT would legit be on an island performance wise.
Besides, iirc Germany did trial the Super Hornet. At least that is what some German mains kept saying.
Again though. Rafale has AESA already and Gripen E would have an AESA radar that I think can angle like CAPTOR-E.
So sooner rather than later, EFT should get AESA and leaving the EFTs with M-Scan whilst everyone else had AESA at the same BR again would be rather unfair.
That I would somewhat agree on, for a time, but only fairly briefly. At least. I wouldnt have an issue with an F2 with CAPTOR-M at a slightly lower BR than the AESA equipped equivalents, but if the FGR4 is meant to keep pace with them… Then CAPTOR-E would be most fair
Obviously as time passes we will have to see more eft blocks/tranches, at least one earlier and one later than what we currently have, just like we will have to see an earlier Rafale and a later one. But for now an aesa eft would probably be a bit strong for top tier
Again, im not overly sure why the EFT gets singled out as being perticularly “OP” when the Rafale is stronger in almost all respects and the Gripen NG/E is probably around the corner with a Gimballed AESA radar like the CAPTOR-E if im not mistaken and arguably some strengths over the EFT
