The teal sphere is used as gaijin way of indicating up or down. It does not do anything outside of the ±30 degree of the normal receivers.

Nope indicate=false
all they do is work together with the rest of the receivers, for the sake of lighting up the Up or Down light in the cockpit.

I just checked, and it seems they made it work all the time. Tho that is 99% not intentional.

As an anecdotal piece of evidence I can confirm it works a full 360, just for launch or pings though.
