Imagine… you are the worlds biggest naval power, but you’re currently heavily indebted, and you want to take a break and focus on paying that off first before you keep building.
Your two ‘allies’ have announced they want to build fleets ‘second to none’ with the sole aim of rivalling yours and start building some behemoths…
So you start to build your own but you want everybody to calm down so you can recover your finances…
And so a treaty comes about and it limits everyone’s building to 38k tonnes and you only get two, but the US and Japan have begun and almost finished ships at 45k tonnes, so you want to build your own to that size.
However
The other two ‘allies’ refuse to sign the treaty unless you limit your next generation ship to 38k tonnes and not the 45k tonnes they had. But you really need the money right now so you agree to it.
So yeah your options are build a pair of QE class WW1 era ships with an extra 15" turret, or you make a fugly but actually very well armoured and equipped battleship thats properly deserving of being a treaty ship.
That’s what the Nelsons are, unfortunately ugly out of necessity, and despite being 7000 tonnes lighter than the others are probably the most well rounded and certainly the best brawlers.

don’t forget that they invented a new displacement so the water filled torpedo bulges wouldn’t count towards displacement

Yeah the very British way of winning through superior documentation. Lets make water not countable because we need it for longer voyages, but really in order to use water in the anti torpedo defense system…
The Admiralty pulled every strap they could out of that Treaty. Though their preferred option was to ignore the Treaty and default on all the debts nullifying them. If anyone wanted their money they could come and get it…

The Brits did favour that layout, it was only for reasons of displacement they limited themselves (or rather were limited). Below are a few designs, the K3 Battlecruiser, the L3 Battleship and then a picture with the L3, G3 and I believe the M3?

Surely the trailer is taking so long to come out since Gaijin wants to make the Centauro B2, that comes in this update, look as good as possible.

Would do a whole lot of nothing on everything bar very lightly armored vehicles

It would be effective against Airfield in ASB if combined with a bit of a SEAD update.
Imo, not every addition needs to be about “how effective it is in GRB” I would just like to see more “fun” weapons. Things like CBUs like JP233 (sure the BL755 would be more effective for GRB), ASMs like Sea Eagles (sure, they would only be of use on ASB and maybe rarely ARB) and even things like ARMs, might be of use in GRB, but fairly mixed effectiveness but would be a lot of fun with SEAD gameplay in ASB
Even A2A, would love for the Jags to get SRAAMs. Sure, AIM-9Gs would still be more effective 99% of the time, but they would be a fun alternative.
