Yes it should alert you to IRST systems as they generally use a Laser for ranging.
But that is not modelled
sure SPAA will take a big part, but not sure the others
Speaking as someone who has used both as well, neither the adats and flarakrad is better than the other. They are pretty equal asymtrically.
Current game limit factoring technical matters.

Today is the statistically most likely day, so yes a chance you might need it could arise
albeit it could take another ~12 hours
The tradeoffs are basically
ADATS:

(+) Missiles have anti-tank capabilities

(-) No tracking radar, only optical tracking (struggles to lock if the sky isn’t clear)

(-) No smoke grenades, only ESS (which Kh-38MTs, Hammers, and Mavericks can see through)

(-) Missiles are worse at anti-air

(+) Has a tracking radar (can track/lock through clouds)

(+) Has smoke grenades

(+) Missiles are better at anti-air

(-) No guns

(-) Only 2 missiles at the ready

(-) Missiles are very bad against tanks (we arent counting the odd overpressure clip)

The issue comes down to why new SPAA are being added. Yes the ADATS is capable of killing tanks, but it is worse at doing the role it’s needed for – killing aircraft.
The FlaRakRad is definitely better for killing aircraft, while the ADATS has alternatives that are better than it for killing tanks (ie. MBTs, LTs, etc.), although nothing really beats it in multirole flexibility.
I fully understand that the ADATS allows for much more flexibility than the FlaRakRad. I’m not discounting that. It’s just that it’s very fair to say the ADATS is lacking in the SPAA and defensive capabilities department due to its lack of tracking radar and its lack of smoke grenades respectively.
Either way, all nations severely need new SPAA. I fully expect SLAMRAAMs to come soon. If it isn’t this patch, it’ll probably be one of the Fall patches.
